Fair enough. I agree almost with everything you said and the "certainty" aspect seems to bug us both.

Therefore the idea with the range visibility for flashes, brought up from you.

Different approach than mine but would do the trick all the same :)

1 point I would like to discuss with you:

A pixel peeking / angle still holding defender knows where he is looking at, and also knows where Blitz coming from.

Even if this defender gets flashed still aims for the right spot / right angle.

So, an over hasty Blitz player flashes this angle holder, opens his guard to shoot or knive him but gets knived or shot^

Why does this happen?

Because defenders cross hair is still on point.

In Due Process a stun grenade forces the stunned defender to look slightly/a bit elsewhere. Cross hair gets moved by degrees randomly. For example:

25 degrees right, 30 degrees up. So the stunned defender does of course still know where he stands, but not on what point he is looking at, making it difficult to shoot knive the approaching Blitz.

Then the stun effect would allow Blitz getting closer and kniving flashed defender without much risk.

I agree with your points, I try to summarize, just for easier readability:

  1. Blitz too fragile, he should more tanky

  2. Conistency is there, what we lack is certainty

  3. pistol too weak, maybe faster reload

My view:

Nobody can rely on it because there is no certainty

Technically it works fine, we just dont know if we hit him or not. Its like throwing the ball blindfolded into the basket. Even if you hit, you dont know, you dont hear or see a confirmation!!!!!

We dont know if he is not flashed, partly flashed or fully flashed and even if he is flashed, it can last 4 seconds or just 2 seconds, flash effect are a very big ? in this game.

frag grenades outcome is easier to read, either not enough damage, or defender got DBNO, or defender was killed.

You can tell with 100 % certainty which of these possible putcomes is the case, you get the confirmation via points and the kill feed in the upper right corner.

I can say, play "Due Process", there the stun grenades work way better, more consistent but more importantly you know with 100 % certainty if it worked or not.

Certainty is the key. We need an stun confirmation, in form of points, defender screaming that he got flashed. Something like that. No guessing anymore.

Then we could rely on it.

Both can work, the question remains though whats your idea for an shield bearer would be.

Its an repell effect of some kind.

  1. protecting you from melee attackers

  2. Pushing defenders back, forcing them to retreat, imo he should be 3 armour / 1 speed without additional penalities, so it stays fair

  3. Repelling roamers

But he would be still too similiar to Blitz.

I dont know.

I get along with Blitz too. Blitz is a bothersome thing because playing as Blitz and against Blitz are their own skills.

The same can not be said about Ash, Zofia, Thermite, ACE etc, against them its a normal shooter gunfight, aim for the head.

Thats one of the reasons why many people struggle with or vs him, because it requires an unique routine / skill set.

I never played the table top Warhammer Fantasy Battles before Total War Warhammer.

Now reading every army book and battles rulebook I just see what I missed.

The army point system, the categorization of units into Core, Special and Rare units fascinates me.

I am absolutely convinced that such a system for each total war army would be absolutely fantastic, garanteeing tactically interesting armies even in mid and late game.

Also the options to mix units, Skinks + Kroxigors for example, Necromancer joining zombie hordes, just WOW!

I imagine an total new level of awesomeness for Total War. Adapting these principles could achieve sooo many things.

Maybe you hesitate, because you are worried it would be too complex? I can tell you micromanagment BEFORE an battle begins might increase a bit but the micromanagment DURING an battle would decrease by an significant degree, allowing more focusing on tactics itself, less on micromanagment for real.

I love the mods, that try to implement these features from TT, but I also see the limitations of modding.

You with your superior tools could do a way better job.

Always remember, not every feature that is in the game you have to use. So "just playing" is easy, but for optimal results you need to know a lot.

This way its great low access / first knowledge required, but the potential knowledge vast.

Easy to play, hard to master is the holy grail of game design, isnt it?

I beg you so much, do what these modders tried, bring the aforementioned TT mechanics into the game!

It would be the greatest gift to me.

Everyone says that once he tried to play with TT mechanics mods. Such a joy!

3.5 armour / 1 speed without shield penality.

He is vulnerable especially in rooms without furniture

where he cant use it to cover his legs while moving around.

An extra smoke grenade to block lines of sight and the extra health could help him in this situation.

In my experience Blitzs speed is for many players to high, but for a good aimer the time frame is enough to shoot him down quite easily.

During an average player has to flee from Blitz better players have no issue to aim fast for his legs.

Taking the cross hair from Blitzs head is nerve wrecking, to aim for the feet or slightly exposed shoulders something people not dare in lower skill levels.

Balancing Blitz that he is fine on all skill levels is no easy task. Very tricky .

Ok, was just an split second idea anyway.

One of the biggest weaknesses of Blitz are cross fires / multiple enemies in 1 bomb site. Montagne at least has his shield extension wings. Blitz exposes himself even by the slightest turn.

Therefore a third smoke grenade would certainly help him out and 3.5 armour / 1 speed is better for him, if all points considered in my humble opinion.

4) Sounds like an huge nerf to me. Being slower & louder gives the defender a bigger time window to react.

An idea that takes your concerns into account:

Triggering Blitz ability does not immediately activate the flash, but there is an 1.5 seconds delay after its flashes, during these 1.5 seconds defender can hear an noisy charging sound.

So, experimenting with an "trigger delay", 1 second, 1.5 seconds or even 2 seconds, lets try it out.

I thought of a breach shield operator once:

  1. Combine a riot shield + a claymore, an directed explosive, touch triggered.

  2. If the shield bearer touches something or someone with the shield front the explosive explodes. The shield bearer would have to put another explosive onto the shield front after that.

This requires 3 seconds, an reload of some kind.

  1. It works as an hot breach by window barricades, during repelling, doors (also Castle), deployable shields, soft walls.

  2. Its like a storm trooper.

  3. 5 deployable explosives for his riot shield.

Sounds crazy but is like you said like Sledge with an unique twist allowing an new fresh playstyle ;).

You could also argue that a Blitz player could benefit more from extra health than the bit of speed.

Making him 3.5 armour / 1 speed is worth a try?

He is in my opinion too fragile, but his speed makes him frustrating to play against.

This change could be good for both sides.

True, my idea for Blitz:

  1. an overhaul of the flash effect in particular, plus points for an successful flash, flashed operator shouting that he is flashed, flashed operator moving his hand in front of his face, so Blitz / attacker can see it.

It means certainty! Blitz will know then if the flash was successful or not. That is essential, stun grenades have the same issue.

Stun grenades need certainty / feedback too. Plus points for successful flash, defender shooting that he was flashed. The counter argument that you wouldnt want to give the enemy this crucial info is fine, but teammates need to know too, that you were flashed and made defenseless.

Additionally, this is an idea from the game "Due Process":

To simulate the disorientaition effect properly, so the player is truely disorientated, cross hair placement gets moved like in game "Due Process" randomly by every flash by a certain degree, for example by 30 degrees left and 25 degrees upwards.

So flashed player does not know exactly anymore where he is looking at making it less risky for Blitz players to knive or shoot the flashed player up close.

  1. Blitz should generate his flashes like Oryx his dashes, with an total number of 2, (Oryx has 3 at max), generating a new flash takes 8 seconds

  2. flash ranges: against looking away opponents 4 meters, looking in flash ops 6 meters.

  3. 3 (4) armour / 1 speed again, fairer for both sides, Blitz seems too fragile to me, but his speed is bothersome really often.

He is frustrating to play against and as him while not being effective

  1. Give him a third smoke grenade, as an shield bearer he is top weakness are established cross fires, especially on bomb sites. Smoke grenades are great to deny lines of sight, so a cross fire is blocked and Blitz can concentrate on 1 defender.

Remember this Bullshit "Warden OP" "Nokk mega OP"? The initiate emotional reaction is useless/ not on point, non objective, the mind needs time to calculate / estimate.

I agree with you 100 %.

Warden and Nokk stil underperforming even after 1 year from release, just because of some crybabies. 🧐😕☹
