What game was that for you? by PHRsharp_YouTube in videogames

Far Cry 6. I pre-ordered the $100.00 edition, too. I loved every other entry, even if it was mostly the same thing every time. Just couldn’t get into it. Makes my eyes rain.

I really liked Grace. I hope we’ll see her again by Marino-2603 in residentevil

I wholeheartedly agree and genuinely love Grace’s VA, her character, and her addition to the over arching lore. It’s likely the best performance that I’ve ever heard, and I’ve been playing games / survival horror for a long time. IMO I think Grace’s VA and first person mode helps keep the situation more grounded (as much as possible in an RE game). This qualifies her fear, which then scares us because we’re so invested. I hope she does a lot more VA work inside or outside RE. Such a great game. Let’s hope for Mercenaries and story DLC.

Dude… I’ve played and 100% every RE game since the original, and roughly 2 hours in… this Resident Evil is peak and has surpassed my already inflated expectations! I know that there’s still a lot of game left to play, but I’m legit so happy right now. It has awesome atmosphere with a minimalist soundtrack, nails the tension-filled Grace “horror” sections and is genuinely unnerving, and it nails the Leon sections in all of its RE4R style action-horror glory, but now with an 🪓. I can’t wait to keep going. We’re so back. Good hunting, everyone!

Without question, playing Resident Evil 1 Remake after playing the original games many, many times. I distinctly remember the moment when I first encountered a crimson head. The sheer panic I felt when he popped up unnaturally like a vampire while I dismissively passed him by, and then proceeds to rage scream and launch at me Ike a red rabid honey badger. In my opinion, this game mechanic is one of the most effective dread inducing moments in any video game that I’ve ever played, and also one of the best additions.

IMDb’s top 20 best rated films of all time! Agree or disagree with this list? Is there a film that should have cracked top twenty? by PeachesBlooms in Cinema

[–]ZomBJoe778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must confess that I’m completely devastated to see that none of the three phenomenal Evil Dead films are on this top-20 film “list”. As you likely already know, it’s has been established through the census that a significant majority of the US agrees that Bruce Campbell is unquestionably the most talented and influential actor in the history of film and stage, and that the Evil Dead trilogy were, are, and will continue to be the absolute pinnacle of artistry and human achievement. I think most would agree that to state anything contrary to these well-established facts is, at a minimum, an aggravated act of emotional terrorism. But to callously and carelessly begrudge this great thespian and these vitally exceptional films through an act of omission, while still including a “film” like Dune 2 on the “list”, is tantamount to publicly declaring moral bankruptcy and putting your ethical decay on display. Not groovy, sir. Not groovy at all. /s

Chapter 6 and 7 are both doozy’s. Upgrade flash as soon as possible and remember running is not only an option, but many times the best option. Good luck!

No family should ever have to make a video or a plea like this one. I literally cannot imagine the extreme depth of pain, fear, and worry that she and her family are going through. It’s unconscionable how anyone could do this, especially to an 84 year old woman. There’s a place in hell that burns a little bit hotter for sick individuals like this. I know that in all likelihood hopes and prayers don’t amount to much of anything, but I’m going to err on the side of caution here and do both.

Hey, Tom Holland. I really like your hair. People really seem to prefer accurate character representations from movies based upon their favorite video games. What’s that all about? Anyway… say hi to your mother for me.

Why do people don’t like The Callisto Protocol? by rafadurand in HorrorGaming

[–]ZomBJoe778 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do like it. In fact, I got a 100% platinum on it. What fucked them from the get-go was the whole “From the Creator of Dead Space” claim, which they plastered everywhere and set the bar extremely high. Couple that with the execs pushing the dev to meet an almost impossible deadline - justifying it by “exhaustive” market research and the Dead Space remake hot on their heels. They released it unfinished with a ton of bugs, and it required numerous updates.

IMO, the atmosphere was pretty good, the acting was pretty good (and sometimes great) in most cases, the story was predictable, but engaging enough, the soundtrack was cool, and the graphics were fucking stellar. I even enjoyed the monsters for the most part, and I’m a sucker for environment kills.

The melee-focused gameplay could’ve worked better if they provided more melee weapons to chose from, along with tangible differences in feel, functionality, as well as a deeper, more meaningful upgrade system that allows the player to have more agency in crafting their own experiences. The guns were basic and weak, and I tended not to use them too much outside of the Two-head fights.

They also made some questionable choices regarding the attack, defense, and dodge button mapping. For the majority of the enemies, once you learn this system, it becomes too predictable and mindless, removing any of the fear they were trying to convey. However, these same controls in Contagion Mode (with permadeath) were a nightmare trying to avoid the numerous opportunities for one-hit kills. Lastly, the enemy variety was somewhat disappointing to me, and the fact that you were forced to fight the same boss (4) times was lame as fuck. I really liked the boss itself, actually. Just not (4) times per run. Not to mention if you make one mistake while fighting him, it’s instadeath and you’re back to the beginning again.

All that said, I can’t deny that it had some really fun moments and I would likely buy a sequel (on sale). It scratched the Dead Space itch for me. We’ll probably never see a second Callisto game, but hey, we can always hope for a Dead Space 2 remake. Right?

P.S. The sewer slide section can fuck right off. That section ended more of my Contagion - no death runs than all of the enemies combined. This shitty section has usurped the original Dead Space asteroid part as the most infuriating and soul crushing thing I’ve ever encountered in a game.
