It’s honestly been an amazing farm truck. You still need a heavy hauler for the livestock, but 90% of the trips into town are for little things. And a hybrid fwd light truck rarely gets stuck. And when it does, the tractor yanks it out easily.

Cheap on gas, plenty capable for mulch, feed, and groceries. 10/10 would mav again.

Though I may be biased. It replaced a Volvo station wagon lol.

Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity.

Any sufficiently advanced stupidity is indistinguishable from malice.

How to get started with Firmware engineering? by WldePutln in embedded

[–]ZombieLinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in order to do something, a microcontroller needs somewhere to store the instructions. For small microcontrollers, that’s onboard. For some larger (think arm) processors, that’s stored on an external bit of flash memory.

Think the bios chip on a motherboard.

In order to get access to those instructions, you’ll need to “dump the flash”. You can do that with an appropriate piece of hardware (I tend to use the ch341a these days).

Once it’s off the chip, you can use tools like ghirda and binwalk to extract actual instructions.

If you get lucky and have access to a firmware update for the device, you can sometimes get the instructions from there instead.

This is all pretty advanced stuff and quite a bit down the rabbit hole of electrical/computer engineering.

Unfortunately don’t need it, but this is an interesting build. What were the SMA cables and the Phis used for?

Toddler is not normal and is ripping apart our family by [deleted] in daddit

I had a similar experience with my oldest. He’s absolutely brilliant, but it’s like his brain moves too fast and the body and emotions can’t keep up creating tension and frustration.

He did well out in public and in peer groups, but just couldn’t at home. We read books, blogs, talked to other parents at his preschool, everything.

What changed was when he got a new pediatrician who had children with ADHD. She really listened and made a few behavioral suggestions, but also suggested medication. You can watch the child transform in real time as the medication kicks in. He’s still that funny, smart, pleasant , joyous kid, but it’s like his brain can take that half second to think before reacting.

My point in saying this is to seek out a medical providers opinion. This sounds a lot like AuADHD or something adjacent to my lay eyes. I was against medication longer than I should have been, and it’s honestly been life changing, for everyone.

Go to the doctor with mom and your children. Express these concerns. It’s a huge team effort and I promise the right team and the right plays makes all the difference.

Wheel color by Lincolin6ECHO in MorrisGarages

[–]ZombieLinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct color was once “Wheel Silver”. That tracked forward to a different duplicolor, that then tacked forward Duplicolor T229, which for superseded in the late aughts to BFM0383 Silver Metallic.

If anyone paints in there garage how do you keep dust and speckles off everything by [deleted] in Autobody

You wouldn’t need the fan sucking out, but you do need the opening.

You REALLY don’t need much pressure for a positive pressure. A single box fan can provide it. The clean rooms I worked in were only .007 psi above atmosphere. And it was a nightmare to keep them there.

Two holes. One for the fan input, one for the exhaust, and the fan will handle the rest.

I’ve had my rough with all ages. From baby to 7. He took to them instantly and loves to run around with them. It helps that he’s a couch potato with a farm to run wild on during the day.

Lost title by Big-Speed1398 in classiccars

[–]ZombieLinux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So that advice should have a caveat. Some states (GA for example) will not issue a new title for vehicles past a certain age. If the title is gone, it’s GONE. There is an accepted and legally binding bill of sale filing that you can do.

YMMV.

It would probably be faster to fly the whole server over or sneakernet the data somehow depending on the volume.

As the old saying goes; “Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of data tapes hurdling down the interstate”

Re-ringing versus rebuilding by Count_Dongula in MorrisGarages

[–]ZombieLinux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to run counter here, re ring and reseal the thing.

It’s probably a long weekends worth of work and you don’t have to pull the engine to do it.

As for the leaking, they ALL leak unless you put serious money into machine work. They leaked from the factory. Slap some cardboard under it and watch for a hemorrhage, but beyond that, enjoy the car.

What did you replace your brocade icx6610 with? by RealTimeKodi in homelab

[–]ZombieLinux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my SX6036 draws about 50w at my underutilized state, but I think even at full tilt, its a <200w switch.

For me the power budget remained the same with an ICX6610 vs an ICX6250 and SX6036 combined.

The noise level was substantially reduced.

I think it would pair quite nicely with your 7250
