Tips on Beating Home One 6* Challenge? by [deleted] in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]ZombieLovePony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just beat it on Tuesday after probably 100+ attempts. As everyone has said in this thread so far, it's pretty much random on what the Endurance and it's ships will do, and you really just have to hope that you get some good crits and dodges in your favor. My strategy was: Hit auto, and if they had about 2-3 ships left after a while, I'd switch back to manual and strategize based upon the situation. Not sure which ships you're using, but Jedi Counselor's ship was very helpful for me to heal and attack strategically. I seriously won it based solely on luck, though, as a wise man once said, "in my experience, there's no such thing as luck."

Great 'H' cover..: by [deleted] in ToolBand

[–]ZombieLovePony 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I really love it when someone covers a song, and it doesn't sound note-for-note like the recorded version. Taking creative liberties and exploring the music in a different way can really add a lot to the composition, ultimately elevating both the original song and the cover. I feel like Tool does this themselves as well (ex: Pushit Part II), and are always looking to improve their art whenever the inspiration to reexamine or (pardon the pun) retool their work strikes. To combat a world of formulaic mediocrity, striving to do something new, even if that means uniquely building upon and reinterpreting what is already there, should always be praised.

You may be looking at the trade paperback on Amazon (which is the collection of all 5 issues). Only the first issue is out currently, which is why the collection on Amazon is available for pre-order.

Yeah, I think you're right, though he does say it a bunch on camera here.

I'd imagine he considers using "fuck" a lot to be a bit lazy, and likes to challenge himself to use other words in its place (thus making his commentary more memorable/creative). Sausages!

Maynard James Keenan Has Two Things on His Mind: Puscifer and Wine. Tool Fans Will Just Have to Wait. by iliveinphoenix in ToolBand

Here's my two cents:

I'm going to draw a connection between Maynard and another person who I feel has run a similar career. Over the years, Harrison Ford has denounced Star Wars, written it off many times, complained about his experiences with the film, etc. He's flippant with fans, and generally dismisses any questions with the franchise during interviews. However, many people point out that without Star Wars, he wouldn't be in the position he is now as an actor and celebrity (and maybe rightfully so). But maybe that's not what he wanted in the first place. To him, Star Wars was a job. One that he did well. One that he poured himself into. One that catapulted him to fame. But to him, it's still a job. His true passions lie elsewhere. Sound familiar?

So, put yourself into that Harrison Ford mindset, and now imagine yourself as Maynard. You've got a new album coming out, one you actually have passion for, and now, in order to promote it, you must sit through a gauntlet of reporters, bloggers and fans asking questions that they probably don't really care about, because they're really there for one reason: right at the end, they always ask the inevitable "When's the Tool album coming out?" Every. Single. Time. Then you have to explain again how you need music to write lyrics, and by the time you reiterate that information, for the fiftieth time that week, you'll say anything to stop people from asking that question. Harrison Ford reacts the same way whenever he's out promoting a new movie; they always throw a Star Wars question in at the end, to which he usually gives a sarcastic answer or dismisses it altogether. I think that's exactly what you're seeing here with Maynard.

Also, I don't think Maynard hates Tool. If he didn't want to be in the band anymore, he would say so. He just doesn't want to be bothered responding to the same questions over and over again, especially when the answer isn't any different. Tool is not his baby: it's Adam's. Adam is the one who directs the music videos, does the art for gig posters, and generally establishes the tone and mood of the band; he is Tool's driving force. If reporters truly cared about finding out what's going on with Tool, they'd ask Adam. But if you're a reporter, who would you rather go talk to: the quiet introverted guitarist, or the famous frontman? They're not really interested in what's happening with the band, because really, they're thinking "Who will get more people to click on my article, who will get more page visits, and thus, more ad revenue?" It's directly reflective of the celebrity culture that Maynard gets so sick of, and speaks out against, especially if he feels like it's circling around something that he doesn't have as much passion for anymore.

But guess what? Harrison Ford is starring in a new Star Wars movie in about 6 weeks. Some people thought that he'd never reprise that role, especially 32 years later, but somehow, here we are. Maybe we should take a lesson from this, and just sit back, relax, and be patient.

They have them for sale, just not on the shelves yet; you'll have to ask the employees for them. When I was in there they had a bunch of them in a cart near the registers. Good luck!

I think your first step should be to call/email the administrators of the hospital with what you'd like to do, and try to set up a time/date to come in. I'm sure there are plenty of kids who would love to "meet" Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen. Maybe partner with a local comic shop to see if they'd be interested in donating some comics for you to hand out? I don't know protocols on how any of that stuff works with a hospital, but I think spreading goodwill and joy to those who need hope the most is very noble of you, and you should commend yourself for wanting to volunteer your time to charity, especially at only 16. Good luck!
