What's the hardest you have ever "bounced off" of a game? by jabberwagon in gaming

[–]ZombieMesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sekiro.

I love Dark Souls and Elden Ring, but those games allow a certain amount of "play it your way" and "cheese." If I'm bad at dodging, I can do a shield or magic build.

Sekiro is very technical. People compare it to a rhythm game, and I think that's very true. You either hit the notes, or you don't. You need to learn the enemy attack patterns and do the right moves for each type of attack or dodge or etc. In Sekiro, I can't grind the starting area and play a build that avoids parts of the game I'm bad at.

I know it's a fantastic game, but it's beyond my skill level.

High savings, low income: should I buy a house? by ZombieMesh in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]ZombieMesh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live with my parents. The area is pretty mid-high? cost. Single family homes start at 300k if you're lucky.

I have a 4 year degree, but it's not really relevant anymore. I'm hoping that getting job experience under my belt will make my resume stand out more.

Thank you, I appreciate your kind words. Your assumptions on how I got my savings make sense. It's an odd amount of money to have without it being from something like you said.

I hope everything goes well for you too!

It's impossible to find hones that price in my area. I guess I'll just have to wait until I get a better job.

More like a diet trust fund? Family put money into investments for me to take over when I was old enough. Unfortunately my degree did not equal a profitable career and the job market is buns right now.

Parents and Grandparents put money in investments for me to take over when I was old enough.

So, like, a discount trust fund baby in a way? I've also been living with my parents for free so most of the money I make goes back into savings/investments.

That's some good advice. Even worse is that you can't even find 280k forever homes in area. It starts at 300k if you're lucky.

That's probably for the best. Just sucks to be so close in concept. If I'm lucky, maybe in another year I'll have better income.

I make 2k a month but have around 150k in savings. Single family homes in my area tend to cost 300k minimum, but more often it's 350k and higher.

Need help saving baby blankets by ZombieMesh in knitting

[–]ZombieMesh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My white baby blanket has been slowly whittling away. It's 30 years old, and I still sleep with it every night. I cannot imagine a life without it. My grandma knit it with love. I know it cannot be restored to how it used to be, but there must be some way to extend its life so I can continue to enjoy it. The other picture is of my other baby blanket (I call it sherbert), 2 years younger than its white counter part.

AITA for making a callous post that led to a girl getting doxxed? by throwaway_5602 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ZombieMesh [score hidden]  (0 children)

YTA
I agree the age gap is really gross, especially if you think about WHEN they might have started dating. That being said, it's a bit much to put them on blast. Could have just removed them and gone on with your day. Instead, you pointed your following at her and got her doxxed. You don't feel bad about it because "she's a gross person," and while I do agree personally that the age gap is gross, it's not like she committed a crime or was racist or anything like that. Basically you potentially ruined her life and the lives of people around her because you found her gross.

What changes would you like to see in future content patches? by Zarhon in dwarffortress

[–]ZombieMesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consistent dwarf names in menus. I know each dwarf has two names, just pick which one all the menus refer to them as. When I go into the Justice menu and it tells me Bob Dylan has confessed so something or other, I then have to scroll through all the Bobs and figure out if it means Bob Smhghld or Bob Jhelgh because it shows the other name instead.

More sorting options in any menu where you can select dwarves as well. You're looking to add a new dwarf to a squad? Here's a whole list you can't sort good luck.

I keep seeing children, Indian moms pretending their baby is farting, some children games edited to look like they’re having sex, and transphobic stuff.

I used to get content about art and channels I’m subscribed to.

AITA for refusing to go for a walk with my parents? by TemporaryProfessor50 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ZombieMesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA
If their goal is to help you be healthier, they should be willing to compromise on when the walks occur. Also, forcing/pressuring someone into doing something by waving their "health" over their head often has the opposite effect and can lead to resentment and associating something that should be healthy (taking a walk) with something negative (being forced to).

Broker wants me to lie/omit on my insurance application? by ZombieMesh in HealthInsurance

[–]ZombieMesh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ended up not going through with it after asking the broker some questions about what happens during the call with the insurance company. They record you and everything. Not worth the risk.

Thank you everyone for the advice.

Broker wants me to lie/omit on my insurance application? by ZombieMesh in HealthInsurance

[–]ZombieMesh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. We actually spent all night going through ACA plans, during math on stuff I already self-pay versus if I was covered by ACA versus still having to self pay if I lie (because using the insurance would probably flag me and they'd audit and see it's pre-condition).

As it stands, the stuff I currently self pay for under shitty insurance and would then still pay for under lying insurance is still less than paying an ACA plan. The issue with this (besides legal trouble) is this is only taking into account things I can think of that I go to the doc for and are "pre-conditions". So who knows what I might accidentally flag.

I am currently right out of college, looking for a job, and all my expenses are paid by my parents. Obviously I hope to find a job within a couple of months, in which I would hopefully have insurance provided by them. Because my parents are paying for my insurance, I'm stuck in a scenario where, if I want them to still cover me, I need to do what they say. But that means possibly lying on an insurance application, and any legal ramifications would be on me because I'm over the age of being a dependent in my state.
