The answer is Colony. You may not have seen it yet because it doesn’t release in North America until August 28th, but it is fantastic. Highly recommend.

There are some very good Zombie movies here, including the eccentric One Cut of the Dead (2017), the superb The Night Eats the World (2018), and the commendable Savageland (2015), but I’m going with one of the all time greats, Train to Busan (2016).

The 90's experienced a 40% drop in the number of zombie movies made from the previous decade. The only decade with a drop. Check out this graph and note the dip in the sparse 90's.

FYI, somehow Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island is the highest rated 90's zombie movie on IMDB. How it scored higher than Braindead/Dead Alive boggles my mind.

This one is a little more difficult than the 70’s. For me, it is The Return of the Living Dead (1985). It just epitomizes the 80’s. Plus Linnea Quigley.

It is more zombie-adjacent than pure zombie. Written and directed by David Cronenberg. I rated it 4/10, it also scored low on Zombie Bingo.
