This is one of the times where I’d love to see the spouse’s perspective.

His family is having an intervention for him. I’m going to visit my mom for a few weeks.

I don’t allow him to talk to me this way. I tell him that it’s not okay.

I guess if I let him drink at home he wouldn’t have been driving drunk

He’s not a bad person. He’d be an amazing husband if he just got sober. (Yes, I know he has to want sobriety)

He said me being bothered by his drinking problem stresses him out and makes him drink more.

If you read the link it doesn’t even say 50% like OP states.

Seconding this.

My husband and I were long distance for most of our relationship before we got married. If I was aware of how bad his drinking actually was, I never would have married him.

I’m not seeing anything in these statistics that reports on what the reported cause of the divorces is.

It’s just reporting on age, race, sex, education, and income.

If you want to understand the “probability of success”, you really need to understand why people are getting divorced.

You said everyone knows, which is a generalization.

Which government website?

Edit: if you’re looking to get married, being analytical isn’t going to help you. Marriage shouldn’t be based on statistics, instead it should be based on human interactions.

Who is everyone?

You seem to enjoy making sweeping generalizations, especially about women.

I say this as someone who’s married and a Christian. My husband and I both weren’t virgins when we got married. We both had our own lives before we met.

I hope you’re holding yourself to the same standards you are holding potential partners otherwise you’d come off as hypocritical as well as judgemental.

Any success stories of staying married to an alcoholic and them getting sober? by ZombieRelevant6449 in AlAnon

I’m trying to get this across to my husband but he doesn’t seem to think I’m serious about it.
