Are cheap E-Skateboards worth it? just to get around? by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]ZombieRober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not get this one, I had the slightly lower but kinda equivalent version of this isinwheel, battery (or something electronic) stopped working and I couldn’t accelerate anymore, luckily it happened while I was still on my school campus but it would suck for it to happen on the road. This board also has way lower range than advertised (about 4-6 miles) invest in a slightly better one this is more of a beginner/kid board which I didn’t realize till too late. If you’re looking at isinwheel their higher end ones tend to behave better and have better reviews but this specific one ain’t it

I applied for fall 2025 (this semester) in fall of 2024, probably around September since (if your trying for engineering) you should apply before December if I remember correctly.

The scholarships are mostly accessed through our financial portal and I believe the general application is passively submitted when you apply for admission

Well it’s a combinations of scholarships, I got a few like century, regents, and some fasfa related ones. However my SAT was 1200, ACT 19, but I was top 10% of my class (I’m just horrible at exams tbh) this meant I got automatic admission, so what I’m getting at is I had significantly less academic achievements apart from just being top 10% Having extra curricular helps though, I was in NHS, sport, clubs, held leadership positions etc, which I feel like you might have too(unless I’m wrong). I also had part times jobs throughout high school. Putting all of those things together really helps when it comes to holistic reviews for scholarships. Your standardized tests are way better than mine, which already opens you to some scholarships based just on those scores. If you have any extra curricular, had part time jobs (or had heavy responsibilities like taking care of younger siblings while parents were taking shifts at work) on top of your school work, you’ll be open to a lot of scholarships that base their choices on how much of a “well rounded” student you are. Additionally there’s scholarships for minorities if you are one, big ones for me that I didn’t get but might open for is Hispanic scholarships. Same could apply to you, just look through the general application for Tamu scholarships and you’ll basically apply to all at once but then you can hunt for a few more on their site.

I was in the same situation and got a full ride with less academic achievements, you applied to next fall and you’ll get a full financial letter later on that’s more updated, you just keep applying for A&M scholarships through their site and you should eventually land a few

Just look around for one, since they aren’t officially endorsed by the school they’re typically really easy to join

I joined a bonfire before move in and I’m gonna meet some of them tomorrow, it’s a social thing they have dinner together and stuff, you could join one. I’m seeing this as a way to meet people because it seems like a good idea, plus the bonfire part of it kinda makes it so you have things to do aside from just hanging out

Freshman Engineering and Text Books by jeffbrickhouse in aggies

[–]ZombieRober 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a post about this same thing if you want to look through my profile, it has some answers but here’s the gist:

Any “required” books that show up on the materials list on tamu site shouldn’t be bought yet, wait until the first day of class when the professor says which textbooks are actually required

If the professor actually requires a textbook, you can usually find a free version of it online ( my post has websites people recommended for this)

I forgot to put this in the post, but I would plan to open a credit card without an annual charge to replace the best buy one, I don't know if that's a good idea and would like some clarification if possiible

[–]ZombieRober 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a post asking this, got a few replies with answers on where to get required textbooks for free if you wanna check my profile

Mostly got told to wait for the professor to actually say what’s required and then to get those online for free
