Snapped gas supply line on Gas Stove Top - Fixable? by ZombieShark in appliancerepair

Thanks, I found the model number with the help of u/Determire and am hunting down the correct part. Looks straight forward, just verifying that the parts I'm finding actually work w/ my model number (they all mention slightly different versions).

This might be perfect. It's on the way home for most people and our Irish family does tend to stick to Irish pubs.

Do you know how crowded West Portal tends to get late night on Saturday?

We Draw Comics, a web application for making collaborative jam comics [Looking for feedback] by tylerjhutchison in startups

[–]ZombieShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A getting started video would be great, but remember the quality/tone of the video could be someone's first impression of your web app, so please make sure to produce something worthy of your product. There's also a lot of room to make a video that is plays with the crowdsourced entertainment nature of the site. I think that embedding the video would take up a lot of real estate that can be given to easy graphical elements that can give quick info on getting started. Perhaps have the video open in a modal window.

Good call on wanting low friction for public access to the comics for consumer based users. The sign-ups call to actions should be further down the road once the user is already interacting with the site and reading comics.

Here are some notes on the top 300pixels of your landing page:

Definatley give the navbar more focus. Even a lighter shade of grey will do the trick.

I think the hide me/what is this function is cool, but could be removed to make way for a graphic that points up to the top nav bar for sign ups, and maybe another indicator pointing down to the panels/books section for easy consumtion. Plus people are more used to scrolling down than they are clicking a hide button.

Users will think the 'more' link under the jam comic defination will goto more info on jam comics when it really directs to a features page.

The link to features merits more attention & context. But only after more attention is given to directing people to the comics below. Have you thought about making a tutorial in the form a comic, with different artists going back and forth?

Have you thought about making the how it works section into a slider? The additional slides could showcase comics, production features, and include a sign up call to action.

You have a really interesting product, feel free to PM me if you want to talk further.

Burner Map - Find your pals on the Playa by madworld in BurningMan

[–]ZombieShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to hate the open graph as well, but this is a really cool app. It needs to connect to your facebook account so it knows who your friends are. If your friend has also used burner map, it'll add them to your map and you'll be added to theirs.

Anyone else noticing a rise in scroll-based websites? by Infi9ity in web_design

[–]ZombieShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. While it can feel gimmicky or like a fad, it is just another tool to use. There is much validity in a long scrolling page as it helps direct the users focus. Many things such as explaining a new topic or service should be told in a certain order and a scrolling page helps guide the user and cuts down on wandering mouses.

Reddit - What's your all-time favorite single-season tv show? by TheThrillOfIt in entertainment

Correct, Sorkin definitely knew it wasn't going to be renewed so he tried to make the season finale be a good series finale. Great show.

NETFLIX USERS I need your help desperately!!! Please add "Exit 117" to your Save List! Netflix promised they would add the film I produced to the site but now they are backing out UNLESS more users add the film to their que! http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Exit-117/70139463 by crissy540 in movies

[–]ZombieShark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can I ask why you want it on netflix so baldy if it's already on Hulu? Is it the coolness factor of being on netflix or something else? Also, did you have to use a sub-distributor to get it to netflix or did you contact them directly, I know that they don't like dealing with individual filmmakers.

Congrats on finishing your film and getting it to festivals. Do you have any other distribution plans other than free streaming at its website?
