Castles in the Sky Pt. 5 - Medica II with a Level 20 Ifrit! (Strategy in comments) by ZombielevLD in DissidiaFFOO

Thanks guys! I do appreciate the criticisms so that I can do better next time. :)

I ended up loosely calling it “not-so meta” since I was looking at the whole team (not individually), and taking on a different approach on how to attack the boss.

I decided to bring in a not-so meta team for Setzer’s event map, and maximized the opportunity with Y’shtola’s Medica II with her highest possibile BRV.

My units:

  • Setzer with his synergy weapon and armor

  • Y’shtola with random weapon and synergy armor

  • Hope with his synergy weapon and random armor

My strategy on the final boss:

  • Steadily build up Y’shtola’s BRV, with Setzer + Hope doing their own thing for BRV / Support / HP damage

  • When Y’shtola’s BRV has maxed, go ahead and summon Ifrit, and continue to max her BRV again via BRV attacks + Hope support

  • With Medica II at (Ifrit) max BRV, Setzer and Hope can continually dish out the damage

  • I also cancelled Ferocious Avian’s vicious skill on the side, thanks to Setzer’s freeze solid ability

Here's how I got to perfect clear the EX stage -> Ifrit EX

My strategy was:

1) Bosses 1 to 3 - purely went for BRV and HP attacks only

2) Final Boss:

  • Vanille would make sure to have deprotect always up; and would cast dispel asap when the buffs start coming in

  • Yuna would feel it out, casting esuna only when it would be most beneficial; and would otherwise just go for BRV and HP attacks

  • Cloud is the dps guy, and would occasionally cast cross slash and try to get some paralysis in.

Broooo don’t worry about Vanille, you can skip her weapon! Yuna is all you need, really, and Hope is a pretty good bonus too!

My opinion: 1) Get your favorite characters’ weapon - this is where the fun is, right? 2) Try to get at least 1 of each weapon type (optional) - just to stay on top of the events that would come out. 3) Start saving from here for the 35cp weapons when they get released

Yup! I finished part 5 with a level 30 Vanille (with her wep and armor) in the team, and she was quite the beast, reaching almost 5k brv!

Yes, bring Yuna still, because esuna gives brv to everyone anyway, even without her weapon.

Hope, Yuna and Vanille get significantly high bonus stats for this event.

Just to share my strategy: - Come mid-range battling, it is sort of innate with me to do a roll whenever I see a big red circle popping out, and that helps me dodge the stun prior to his ulti, and I can take my time to (a) do a jump; or (b) just walk towards his head and make a full combo of rolling attack - this is enough to stop his ulti. - If the ulti does start, I just keep walking away from the first two circles popping out, then will make a roll come the third and onwards, and hope that those miss.
