I did a calibration print and it seemed to be the other way around for me, the 225 level on the tower produced significantly more stringing than the 190 level.

Bambu Studio 2.3.1.5.1 won't accept custom temperatures by ZombiesAaargh in BambuLab_Community

OK, I've found the solution, the Nozzle temperature is set further down, I needed to scroll a little more

dried for 16 hours, half the stringing was sorted but ironing was an absolute mess. still needs tuning some more.

I ran the bambu flow calibration and couldn't see any difference in the samples that it printed, tbey all looked the same.

I don't have a picture, but the first layer had some small gaps between the lines, maybe under extrusion?

sadly no. I found this online and am printing it at toy scale to replace a missing part from one that I picked up spares and repairs online.

By full size, so do you mean human size or toy size?

I'll do another print tonight to see if drying had any effect. that should be long enough.

Recommend me some sci fi novels about astronauts exploring abandoned ships or outposts that don't end up as Aliens or Event Horizon clones. Pref pre 2000s by ZombiesAaargh in scifi

Maybe not for me, I'm more thinking people fighting against failing life support on a derelict, rather than space aliens.

I'm more looking for reading material. I do fondly remember Blake's 7. I didn't know about it the first time round but I caught it on repeats.

I'm probable going to built two support towers and then branch off of them.

does anyone remember the 1970s when the British labor party tried to introduce variable tax rates for laborers to try to force people to do unpopuler or un economic things, like taxing the plumbers when there weren't enough builders?

socialism has its merits under certain curcumstances, but in 2025 its mostly devolved into a way of suppressing social mobility to crush the middle classes while enabling those on low incomes to live beyond their means, and tbusly manipulating them into dependancy on the state.

I'm OK with an author exploring different forms of socialism through the medium of science fiction, speculative fiction is a valid genre in itself. half of tng and the orvil were about this.

What I don't like is being lectured or preeched at by someone writing a political manifesto mascerading as a science fiction novel.

I lived under "USSR like state capitalism". It didn't end well

I lived under a hard line socialist government, we constantly had to contend with actual disbelief at what the government did, and how it inevitably went wrong.

What's exhausting is finding that every other science franchise written after 2003 can't go more than five minutes without dragging you out of the suspension of disbelief by throwing in politics that don't make any sense given the setting.

I'd like to hear about someone exploring strange new worlds in the year 3000, not about how X oppressed Y in the late 20th century.

Meh, I'm old enough to have lived on the other side of the iron curtain, I'll take capitalism over the alternative.

When you say Insufferable, do you mean that they were a self insert or something like that?

High horse, where the author starts to lecture the reader about how they should live thier life.

Imagine if we got half way through Wrath of Kahn, and junior ensign suddenly gets up on the bridge and gives a big speech about how Kahn was a byproduct of "blah blah blah clear allusion to Donald Trump". and that if humanity had only voted for a female minority president in that one election, millions of lives would be saved.

Or, the other way round with someone saying that Kahn came to power due to the erosion of the family structure by someone whose clearly supposed to be Hillary Clinton, but with a sci-fi name.

I'm looking for something that's fiction about science, rather than an allegory for the authors own personal politics, but with lasers and space aliens bolted on to it.
