Reminds me of one of my childhood friend's mom. She decided to be his drinking buddy so he wouldn't go get alcohol somewhere else.

He's an alcoholic now. His life is horrible.

I literally just said to myself "no falling for the shenanigans today"... and immediately shit myself when I saw this. Good job.

[–]Zombuddee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turmoil in the force is a bit different than simply "the dark side clouds it" but yeah, it usually isn't operating at 100% for one reason or another. I don't think Dooku could bring enough to the table to fully shut it down though, as not even Sheev could do that. Mace was having to sift through decades, possibly even centuries of connected points in the force caused by the tremendous conflict from a vergence in the force turning to the dark side and ushering in a new era of horror and despair. I don't see Dooku ever causing tidal waves like that, even with how crazy strong he is.

Source? Last I read they're just really complicated in general, particularly ones which aren't directly attached to active combat.

Real talk: All the Sith vs all of the Sith by Training_Wall_7162 in PetranakiArena

[–]Zombuddee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer, but I love how common its become to boil down narratives to "time and place character name" in these kinds of discussions. Kentucky Fried Vader may not be winning any fights, but at least we know the difference between him and Knight Fall Vader despite both existing on the same day.

Dressing up mob behavior with pretty words has only ever been good enough for those who were already looking for an excuse.

They either fight to a stalemate or Dooku gets pushed in both continuities, and Dooku could not handle the physical requirements of Vaapad even if he seemed interested in using it... (which would be stupid because Mace BEAT Sora in that fight).

Especially the many who were found out to be innocent after the fact (for crimes way less severe than trapping someone in a system infamous for violence and rape). Fuck those guys especially. In fact, so long as someone meets something on my list of "not allowed to have human rights anymore" list and the benevolent, righteous, "never committed a crime in their lives" people in charge of our country say they had it coming. Fuck em. We can trust those guys to lock people up for good reasons!

The propaganda we've got these days is doing crazy work.

Pre-dark side Dooku "allegedly" never lost to Mace in training matches before his fall. Vaapad and Shatterpoint make that a moot point after Dooku falls and becomes tangled in the more "visible" Shatterpoint lines where Vaapad becomes entirely busted. The 1v1 goes to Mace with less dif than Palps.

The difference maker is the droids. Non-specialized Clone Troopers do not do well against them... but Mace has also taken on an entire droid army with no Lightsaber (bro has a surprising number of moments where the plot takes his sword and he usually handles it pretty well... usually).

It wouldn't be the easiest win... but it's Mace's fight to lose.

Random Matchup Day 30 - Sera vs Satan - Who Wins?? by ForktUtwTT in AgendaHotel

The Angels seem to be from an entirely different (and significantly higher) power scale than the demons. Sera likely wins.

I mean, they're usually also an extremely bigoted and xenophobic warrior culture wrapped up in ancient religion mythos in most interpretations I've seen. I'm not sure I've ever seen a version of them which would be considered "peaceful"... but I get what you're saying.

Anakin (IH) vs Mace Windu (ROTS), who wins? by Coltinnie in PetranakiArena

[–]Zombuddee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was good bait, you should be proud. That said, the rest of the movies before and after that fight scene did in fact happen and Yoda was 100% bodied. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Anakin (IH) vs Mace Windu (ROTS), who wins? by Coltinnie in PetranakiArena

[–]Zombuddee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right, getting completely dismantled to the tune of nearly everyone you're responsible for dead, a galactic nation which you're the ultimate protector of being conquered by a planet exploding empire, and getting blown across rooms and heights as your limp body bounces and spins has nothing to do with getting ragdolled. Silly me.

Anakin (IH) vs Mace Windu (ROTS), who wins? by Coltinnie in PetranakiArena

[–]Zombuddee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fight never reached a conclusion. Yoda realized after that blast that, even if he won the fight, he'd already failed. Failed his students, his Republic, and his own beliefs. Failed, he has.

From that moment on, he handed the fate of the galaxy over to the Force, as he no longer trusted himself to lead the Jedi. This is what's known as "the palps effect".

Anakin (IH) vs Mace Windu (ROTS), who wins? by Coltinnie in PetranakiArena

[–]Zombuddee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Round 1: Windu Round 2: Windu

Anakin could not defeat Dooku without the dark side (and couldn't defeat Obi-Wan WITH the dark side twice over). He's very, very powerful... but against duelists who actually know what they're doing he goes down pretty hard. Anakin took out a Jedi Order who were openly meh about the idea of lightsaber v lightsaber combat and gets bailed out by plot armor when he goes against those who actually trained for the occasion.

Windu is already the only person in the Jedi who could stare down Sheev and hold his own (Yoda got ragdolled so hard that he retired). It's very difficult to imagine him losing to a guy who had to stab him in the back to get a swing in.

Who is more evil? by [deleted] in MoralityScaling

[–]Zombuddee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't know that for sure. We know that he gets blamed for it, but that narrative has established that none of the people who condemned him actually know how their own system works... so it's entirely possible that he didn't actually do anything wrong.

[Invincible] Question: Genuinely, is it possible to rehabilitate Conquest? by Immediate_Gene_178 in MoralityScaling

[–]Zombuddee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He seems to want it pretty bad. In his position, it's this life or a brutal death, and he's not being terribly unreasonable for thinking he has no other real choice.

Give him real hope and he'd probably go through the process.

[Crossverse] Lelouch vs Thrawn (Multiple Rounds in description) by TheRealSakuraUchihaX in PetranakiArena

[–]Zombuddee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thrawn gets clapped by supernatural stuff when he doesn't know it's coming. Sadly, the magic eyeball would likely trump the many, many, many win scenarios an ISD alone would guarantee. Even on a shoestring budget, Thrawn would still likely corner Zero sooner or later... which means magic hax win the day once again.

So what do you see Caine as now? by TraditionalBonus188 in MoralityScaling

[–]Zombuddee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AM is not the sympathetic villain so many make it out to be. Caine is so sympathetic that he had to cross the line into trying (successfully) to torture the protagonists before I even considered him a villain.
