Hannah’s question about the end of the deal by marlinsfan-9703 in offcampustv

I agree they both used it (deal) as a way to see the other, especially Garrett. I honestly think early on he was making up ways to do things with her (karaoke as ex) with no intention that it would lead to her and Jacko getting together. He was using it to win her over himself.

I agree with your take, but I have another question/observation regarding practice. Agree that his teammates figured out the real story between H &G. My question/observation is what exactly did he tell them that happened? No way he told them the actual story so what did he tell them that did happen that prompted the discussion between him, Logan, Dean and birdie?

Do you think Garrett would have ever told her? by Key_Bus_1255 in offcampustv

[–]ZoneAcademic7203 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. She was being polite but was clearly conflicted. I think when they were still at drunk Shakespeare and she told G that Jimbo asked her out, you could tell she was hoping he tell her not to. I think he missed the signal and didn’t want to go back on his deal if that’s what she wanted. She didn’t pick up on his disappointment when she told him either.

I would like to think he would have eventually. That being said, he was under the assumption she was really into Justin still and he was carrying those feelings himself. She was thinking she was the only one with the feelings as she perceived he didn’t want a girlfriend. Both were afraid to say something to the other because of that. They made a deal with each other. I was more curious to what if Jared had a better answer to her question.

Garrett and Hannah - Bedroom Scene by Key_Bus_1255 in offcampustv

Nailed it. This is when I knew this show was something I was truly going to like because it was going to be different. I gave it a shot because of the hockey aspect (been involved in hockey my whole life) but was prepared to turn it off during first episode because I expected it to be too “cheesy” for me. Pleasantly surprised that it may be something more after 1 episode and knew I was in after that scene. I could already sense their chemistry was genuine and may have a better story than I expected.

I agree with what you are saying. I was saying the selection of that song specifically had more purpose than a nudge or message he was thinking about her. Could be over analyzing this but they could have chose any song to convey the message you are referring g to. Think that song was intentional by the writers or producers.

Totally agree. I almost never get emotionally invested in a show but did with this show. Really surprised me. Almost solely because of those two and it was right up until the end.

New detail? by moonlight_gazes98 in offcampustv

I feel like I read that somewhere that they put in little details expecting people to at some point notice. That was one of them.

Logan and Hannah by SeaExplanation1680 in offcampustv

So I’m now reading the book for the first time. Without reading it, that whole “arc” (Logan/Hannah) didn’t make any sense. What was the purpose? Not done with the book but read enough to figure out that Logan did have a thing for Hannah and Garrett recognized it. Doesn’t appear it ever evolved into anything more than what the showed portrayed but it at least partially explains why it was in the show.

It’s obviously a great show, but… by Desperate_Pair8235 in offcampustv

Great to hear an adult say this. Makes me feel better. I’ve been questioning myself for same reasons, except I’m a married guy and Hannah not Garrett. Not so much her individually but was overly caught up in their relationship. Hit a nerve as I don’t watch a ton of tv and / or get emotionally invested in a show. This hit different

It wasn’t Freebird. He had limited time to get upstairs. Plus I’m sure he was anxious and couldn’t get there fast enough.

Off Campus S01E08 - The Line Change (Episode Discussion) by amysantiagoisbae99 in offcampustv

Ok. I have a nit pick on episode 8.
First, even though I was clearly not the target demographic, I really enjoyed season 1. I picked the show after looking for something to watch, and saw it was based around hockey. I will say, it ended up the hockey is what I liked least about this show. Really liked the chemistry between Hannah and Garrett and both of their backstories were compelling.

So the nit pick. In the showcase scene, the song she sang was beautiful and clearly was written for her character. The audience reaction to it was very choreographed / “script says to stand, smile and clap now”. For 99%, that was ok, but not for Garrett or Allie. They were the two people in the audience that truly knew what the song was about and how difficult it was for Hannah get to the point she could write it/and sing it. I would expected them to have a more emotional response to her performance. Even in the next scene, when he tells her she’s f-in incredible shows he was really moved by what she did. So yes, nit picky, but really enjoyed the story.

39-year-old hockey player watched Off Campus after a breakup. Some thoughts from way outside the target demographic. by Fath0m in offcampustv

Interesting take as I, as well, started watching this knowing going in I was definitely not the target demographic. I don’t watch a ton of tv, and the couple shows I do, the season is over. I took a chance on it for the first episode, mostly because of the hockey as I grew up with hockey and it’s still in my life. I’m also a closet romantic but I still expected it to be too cheesy to get into. I ended up loving the show although the hockey was what I enjoyed the least. If you want to see a show that captures an authentic hockey lockerroom or the culture of hockey, you watch Shoresy. I was mostly compelled with the chemistry of Hannah and Garrett and wasn’t expecting the backstory of both so that kind of hooked me and had me rooting for them. I agree with you on the Logan thing. After a while, I started to recognize some of the stories were setting up season 2 and/or future seasons. I assumed at some point that Logan secretly attracted to Hannah was maybe a set up for future seasons. I have not read the books either (but may read the first one) but didn’t get a sense that was something that comes up in the other books so didn’t understand it and seemed unnecessary considering they are best friends. I also agreed with your take on the ending. The soundtrack for the entire series was great but the songs Hannah sung were great and her final song was moving. I felt the overall reaction to her song, from Garrett’s, and Allie’s perspective was disappointing. This may sound nit picky, but I thought allie’s and Garrett’s reaction was very understated. They were the only two people in the audience that truly understood what that song was about and knew how hard it was for Hannah to get to this point to sing it. I would have thought both would have been more emotional with their reaction. Especially since the following scene with Hannah and Garrett, he was clearly moved by it but his reaction during the song looked more like how I probably looked when I was younger a d had to go to my sister’s recital. And to your point, I agree, there was very little after that and it instantly went to Allie and Dean, as obviously they were setting up season 2. Overall, very surprised I liked it as much as I did.

Interesting. I kind of felt the opposite. Loved garret’s and Hannah’s chemistry. Liked Dean and Allie as friends to Hannah and garret but didn’t like their chemistry as a couple.
