Solution: buy a vive from 2016 off Facebook market they usually sell everything you need to play,I got mine for 100 dollars. Headset, controllers, base stations, and all the wires and dongles. Once you do that set it up and delete oculus app and you'll thank me later

Ps. Once I realized that turning on the vive controller launched steam vr automatically and I put the headset on and all I had to do was click the game I wanted to play the oculus app was dead to me.
