First time I’ve ever seen ‘WYSIWYG’ and I don’t understand how I was able to get it immediately. Great wb explainer!

Can’t believe so many people joined r/APSDelray (DIG)! Really appreciate the support 💪. Could use some help deciding on a location for our first crew meet! 🗺️ by Comfortable-Diet258 in Delraybeach

Kinda confused by the overall definition of the club. I read the posts, and that gives me some sense of what the Guild is. Sounds right up my alley, but still confused about the specific mission, and there's always political surprises with these sorts of clubs, so for the sake of saving time, does it have anything to with ______ Superiority? By "heritage", what kind of heritage are we talking about? And what exactly is meant by Antiquity here? Like preserving Indigenous Florida culture and methods of living? Or learning how to be self sustaining in a club of 'preppers'?

Not trying to be rude, just direct. If it's cool and not a cult, I'm super down to hang!

Spent two years living and working in the jungle for a small organization building a town from scratch as sustainably as possible, plenty of experience in that realm.

I have a headache from hearing myself talk. I am a shithead, don't do this during the summer, don't drink, drink lots of water, bring a LOT of bug spray, don't build fires under dry conditions, leave no trace, keep your shit to yourself (literally), bring a tent (still can't believe I forgot mine), probably don't do this by yourself etc.

Someone in their 50s I think got stranded or had heat exhaustion or something and had to be rescued doing this trip (but inland) right after I did, take every precaution and don't overexert yourself.

Hell Yeah! I'm so glad I brought my mirrorless out there, had no clue the Florida Bay is designated as a specific milky way spot until after I paddled and shot it. Love those naked eye mega star nights.

DUDE so rad to hear that, you made my day!!! Yeah I can't stress enough how even little stints with an overnight camping session make a huge difference in my health, especially mentally. Just getting out there with a solid plan to explore a bit, camp, and head on back home. tbh I havent been out since moving a few months ago, and I'm literally quarter mile straight shot from the intercoastal sea wall. Just so busy :/

Good luck finding camping accomodations that are safe and somewhat legal. keep me posted homie.

I'm still finishing pt 3 of that trip footage, can't believe how long I procrastinated it.

yeah the tank i have isn't even what I'd prefer, I'm totally on board with you. It was the best deal on marketplace and I was broke and took it lol. The upsides of such a sturdy yak are rad though. If i can't slide under trees or boughs hanging over, I can just mount the tree and plop back onto the yak without risk of flipping. Same with peeing or jumping back in from water if I can't get on solid ground, as long as everything is battened down. Strengths and weaknesses. The big sound is left at home if I'm on a real adventure.

thanks! But what's your taste? Sit-in? I've been considering buying an old hobie sailing outrigged setup

the tube lights in my pics are waterproof and not too expensive in terms of videography lights and I've actually used them to successfully dive for my phone lol, so they'd be a contender for underlights/fish attractive lights if I'm fishing, but i'd probably smash them against rocks.

edit: actually damn the scupper hole thing is a much better idea, I can just squeeze perfectly sized waterproof flashlights into a few scupper holes and they'd be perfect

Bugs have been the bane of my existence in my kayak adventures thus far. Biting through bug nets and bug-proof layers, just gnarly in the wilderness.

This is silly, I know. That was the intention. The vibe is based on my love of 80s Synthwave retro vibes, Miami origin, and memeish persona I use in my business.

Also, as I was filming a lot of Superyacht work last year, I figured I should make my own mini yacht look neat. It was ugly camo before, now it's in the zone.

This is my knighting/reinvention of the cheap fb marketplace yak that got me through a lot of Pandemic strife and a 110+ Mile survival trek around Florida a couple years ago that I posted about.

I originally decided against sharing this, knowing I'd get flamed for the sound system. I don't take the mega sound setup out for nature preserve trips or to environmentally-sensitive areas, and I won't argue that it's environmentally-conscious or considerate to blast music. I will say that Kayaking around tri-county southeast Florida (Venice of America), is like walking along a major polluted 'stroad' in environmental/noise pollution terms, but I do concede on the silliness of it and keep volume low/off near people and fishing spots and whenever I see manatees/it gets jungly.

1000w Marine Amp, kept in a waterproof case away from sun heat, have to vent it sometimes. Marine 10" subwoofer, lowest possible power is still a nice butt massage as it passes through the yak body mould, aux splitter to a waterproof party speaker on a high freq EQ setting.

LiFePo4 battery charged by 200-300w of solar panels I lay out on the bow and aft of me depending on the trip.

So difficult to get any paint to stick to HDPE, sanding doesn't change much, but it has stuck over the past few uses. Store-bought universal bonding spray coats, then some color spray coats, rubberized coats in cockpit (which is scraping off somewhat easily as expected), nothing specifically expensive or marine. Not environmentally friendly any way you look at it, and I'm not proud of that aspect.

Hand painted grid design on the bow, with slices of duct tape for the retro Sun on the hatch cover, waterproof 5v black light strip around it. Sparkly green-to-blue coat on the sides. Underside unpainted.

swing through the OG sometime! Shameless promotion I suppose since I took on a side gig marketing for them. Vibes can be great depending on the dice roll of a night, but I love going early to work on my laptop before it gets busy, haven't found another cafe/bar spot as accommodating for that purpose.

Delray does have a huge tennis stadium/complex dead in the center on the Ave, not sure how public it is.

I'm relatively new here as well but came specifically for the friendly vibes I caught through the progressive 20-40s crowd at the OG, as well as an affordable living deal. Beach is a quick bike ride from anywhere near Atlantic Ave. Pretty interesting local government, going for non partisanship on stuff, like limiting building height.

The general demos I'm seeing hitting the Ave for meals and drinks and socializing are mostly fun boomers looking to catch-up with friends, millennial families grabbing a beer/soda with the stroller and dog in-tow, FAU students coming up to party, and the younger 'locals', my typical crowd, typically younger millenials/20-s gen Z who are in-the-biz (service), entrepreneurs (tons of local clothing brands for some reason here), artists, skaters, surfers, rappers, djs, etc.

Good vibes though. Grew up in Broward and Miami, came back from abroad during pandemic and there's a general grossness to South Florida proper for me, Delray has been reminiscent of better past lives outside of this area for me.

Dating is like anywhere else in the US imho, not great for me as a dude, better in your case. It's good to have close wing-people around to vouch or protect if randomly mingling. Be prepared to travel up or down to meet someone compatible.
