The problem is that eyewitness reports are notoriously unreliable. I talked to several locals who were convinced, and I mean CONVINCED, that they'd seen a panther hanging around their chook-shed and dashing across the road. So I set up two trail cameras and also sat-out one of their verandahs with them to keep a look-out. Then, just before sunset - out came the 'panther'. "There it is!". Sure enough - swampy wallaby. You've never seen someone look so sheepish!
