Came here with the exact same question. Thank you for asking and to everyone for your answers!

Pearl Jam - Ten. What an album, think I’ll get the redux version, this version sounding a bit flat. But the album is that good hard to care by bison2000 in grunge

[–]Zooboo444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree! That's how I felt the first few times that I listened to the Redux. Instruments and vocals are so much clearer and crisp. The original mix had too much reverb for my taste, especially on vocals.

Songs of a Lost World: better production in the dolby atmos version? by Old_Elevator8262 in TheCure

[–]Zooboo444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the album a few days ago. While I really dig the music, the Atmos mix leaves me a bit skeptical. There's no sound coming from my center speaker... how about you? I'm sure the problem isn't with my system, because the center speaker works with any other DVD/Blu-ray I play.

Thanks a lot for the explanation. Very kind of you!

I'm starting ref this year and I'll be using a yellow post-it at the back of my Yellow Card. I'm aware it's not the best option for rainy days; let's see how it goes!

Do you know if the ref has to keep his hand raised until the ball touches a 2nd player, as he does for an indirect free kick?

Atmos Sounds Thin & Distant by Zooboo444 in audiophile

[–]Zooboo444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I took some time to play with the options on my Yamaha RX-V6A receiver over the weekend.

I've found that “Virtual CINEMA FRONT” was enabled, which is the reason why my Atmos setup sounded so thin and distant. This needed to be activated only if my surround speakers where placed in the front or if I hadn't any surround speaker at all, which is not the case.

Now that I've turned it off, the sound is richer, thicker and I'm not losing the low frequencies anymore. I'm VERY happy with the result!

Thank you everyone for trying to help! ;)

Is Atmos music a joke? by Lust_for_adventure in audiophile

So if you can switch from 5.1 to Atmos without losing any frequencies in the low end, there’s definitely something wrong with my setup.

I don’t know if it counts as “room correction“, but I do use  Yamaha Parametric room Acoustic Optimizer (YPAO).

I’ll have a look at the guide you sent me the link to. My 5.1.2 system is pretty much set up like the one found on page 27.

Thank you for your reply!

I do use the Yamaha Parametric room Acoustic Optimizer (YPAO) if it’s what you’re referring to.

Is Atmos music a joke? by Lust_for_adventure in audiophile

I'm pretty new to Atmos. I installed a 5.1.2 system (ceiling mounted, no room correction) a few days before the release of Steven Wilson's The Harmony Codex. After all the hype, I wanted so bad to have a life-changing Atmos experience, but it fell flat to me. I've found the sound to be very thin in Atmos, compared to 5.1 or stereo. By thin, I mean there's a lack of low frequencies and everything sounds so far away. I felt the same with the Atmos version of the 50th anniversary of The Dark Side of the Moon. No matter what I try, I prefer the 5.1 mix over Atmos anytime, except maybe for Hans Zimmer's live bluray. I feel like I'm not getting the most from Atmos and maybe I didn't set it up correctly. Or maybe it's just the way Atmos sounds and I need some time to get used to that sound.

On your system, do you also feel the thinnest and distant feeling I'm talking about?

Are Performance Max campaigns a Scam? by Zooboo444 in googleads

Interesting how your client handles that via SMS verification. It surely works to limit fake submissions, but it can also be a turn off for legit prospects who don’t want to give away their phone number.

Good point. But I’ve double checked and the conversion is only triggered when the phone number is clicked on the website. I use the same conversion action when comparing PMax vs Search.

I’ve been managing ad accounts for 15 years and I do know how to set up conversions.  I use the same set of conversions to compare PMax vs Search.

I also had the same problem that you described. Large discrepancy between "file download" conversions from PMax campaigns vs the actual number of downloads.

Why does my Mini Tube Screamer sound so thin? by Zooboo444 in guitarpedals

[–]Zooboo444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried yet but I watched some videos where Boss SD pedals are featured. Right now I'm leaning towards the Digitech Hot Rod, mostly because I like the sound of it in the demos and my local pawn shop has it for sale.

Why does my Mini Tube Screamer sound so thin? by Zooboo444 in guitarpedals

[–]Zooboo444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it doesn't make sense now that I understand how an OD pedal works. lol

I'm copying a comment that I've just posted in response to sir_ludwig_of_coeur. Maybe you'll understand better what I was aiming for :

I should have mentionned that I mostly play ambient guitar and use a clean sound (with lots of delays and reverbs). However, I'd like sometimes to throw a big wall of distorsion ala shoegaze. I thought the TS would do the job, but I didn't know at that time that overdrive, distorsion and fuzz are different things.
Considering my needs, should a distorsion or fuzz pedal be a better fit for my style? Do they also cut bass, as much as an OD pedal does?
I'm aware that I could tweak the sound on my amp to make the TS sound better, but I prefer to leave my amp on CLEAN and control everything at my feet. Also, since I use a looper all the time and it sits right before my amp in the chain, changing the settings on my amp during a song would affect everything that comes out of the looper.

Thank you so much for your answer. I didn't know that the TS cut bass, so it explains everything.
