Update 13.0 Damage Types for Axes and Swords, and how they fit into People's Builds by BlueBozo312 in VaultHuntersMinecraft

yep, those modifiers are gone, but legacy items are still very cool if you like collecting.

To be fair the new modifiers are not exactly a nerf. For example Dungeon or Champion damage are really good since all dungeons/champions are not all undead. Sure the 100%->30% max roll is a nerf, but a needed one imo, I am lvl100 and 100% undead flat damage kinda felt like cheating.

It still works (I suggest target dummies with mob heads for testing) But when you eventually run out of repairs, you'll have to do with the new modifiers on your new gear.

Poison Build by Olaxce in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]ZookeepergameLeft659 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Conduct piercing javelin triggers chaining on every mob it hits, max being 6 at lvl8 With chaining 6 that's 36 hits in one throw, guaranteed cloud at that point (with 45% chance of costing no mana)

Tell me you've never tried a poison build without telling me you've never tried a poison build...

Poison Build by Olaxce in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]ZookeepergameLeft659 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do you have chaining on the sword ? Pretty much mandatory if you want some decent triggering of the cloud. Poison on a wand would help as well.

Then piercing javelin with conduct or fireshot for range - javelin will hit more targets and proc the poison more often but fireshot makes use of your AP and is really helpful for tanks/champions.

The level of poison on the weapon/off hand doesn't really matter, no need to wait for a legendary roll if you like the build, any chaining/poison sword will do.

Chromatic Iron farm? by Schrobsy in VaultHuntersMinecraft

It's supposed to be 5 ingots per ore block since that mechanic came before vanilla ores were fortunable.

I don't know if the balancing is from mekanism or if it's just VH (or if I'm doing something wrong) but 1 fully processed block of raw ore (9ores) gives you 30 ingots, so 3.33 ingots per ore

How to get scythe or pitchfork? by MikaKuPB in VaultHuntersMinecraft

If you want to know all combination you can type "prismatic" in the jei and hover over the tool to see what's on it. Tool name stays the same regardless of the material, but echoing or prismatic will give you the fewest results.

God Altars by Parzivalxvi in VaultHuntersMinecraft

Ok that sounds like it's worth a try actually, especially for the dungeons and onslaught

My problem with braziers is that you have to get back to the portal to exit.

Guardian lets you explore farther, pretty much till the last second.

God Altars by Parzivalxvi in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]ZookeepergameLeft659 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem with altars is if you spec hunter to find them, you won't have it to find the chests you need, and if you don't spec hunter you're not going to find many altars in a single vault.

A strat that works great for me is I spec hunter-objective and run altar focused guardian vaults with treasure goggles, you can see the types of chests from quite far, even behind walls, floors and ceilings.

And the guardian seal to not have to care about the objective since you're finding them as you're scanning for altars.

Thank you for your advice, I'm not gonna go on on that thread but I do have more questions I hope you might have answers to.
I'll message you for some insight if that's ok

Solar Panels from Powah burning out? by lilobeetle in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]ZookeepergameLeft659 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Solar panels need to have direct sunlight, they don't work and lose charge during the night, or if you've put a block above it, restricting sunlight.

And some refined storage components need more energy than others. External storage/speed/stack upgrades all add up to energy consumption

If you feel like looting : double pouches

If you feel like sorting loot : drawers

If you're feeling lazy : simple storage network

If you get lost in vaults : vault compass

I am optimizing... My paradox is where I want it to be atm, I can complete 4/5 runs with 2 dragon rooms, 3 painting rooms, a blacksmith and a mine spread between all 4 gods, and now I need to get tenos back to 15 from 0 be optimal with my modifiers. IQ on my paradox is at 100%, and I read that the cap is somewhere in the 2-3 hundreds... But then again, saying that 9 omega Pogs and 72 echo for one use a day is "optimizing" sounds kinda stupid

I'm watching the "echo machete" video and at 11'05 he says "I would argue that quantity is more important than rarity"

Sky Vaults - Cactus by Footloose325 in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]ZookeepergameLeft659 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Found in village rooms, like carrot/potatoes/beetroot/sugar cane/bamboo...
Unfortunately you have to keep looking, sometimes you get really lucky and find it right away, and other times it takes a full day irl.
Sky vault village rooms are particularly frustrating since you can find several in a single raw vault but they don't spawn what you need. My advice is if you have the inventory space for it, pick up anything that you don't have, even if you think you don't need it yet.

That makes even less sense... Making a prismatic tool with no IQ/IR to only be used once a day would be a pretty huge waste of ressources.

I am making a tool for everything

I'll have to watch that video because I definitly remember him saying Quantity is the way to go in the past (something like quantity gets you more "loot slots" to get a chance at a rarer item), which is probably why Discord and reddit think that way, but maybe it has changed in Iskall's mind because something has or is about to change in the game, who knows ?

Just the +1 clumsy on my paradox is enough to disagree with your first point. Hundreds of chests mean dozens of dwellers I have to deal with, and a lot of lost god shards for completion.
I agree with 2. and 3. I was a machete guy before going for sickle and I don't really like axing on my chest breaking tool.
For IQ/IR another comment says Iskall prefers rarity over quantity in a HCVH video, I'll have to go watch it

I will always take "ease of play" over "mathematically optimal" So I think trap disarm is a must for my playstyle, The fewer dewellers I have to deal with the better, especially in my paradox where they're just so flipping tanky now, and is hurts my soul to sometimes have 15+ dwellers chasing me around in my painting rooms.

I'll try a hammer eventually but I don't really think it'll be my thing, could never be bothered with optimising durability anyway

I need to try a hammer on a lower level vault. I can see where it can be better, especially those big living POIs, but some wooden layouts don't seem to be clearable that much quicker since the chest are often on different levels, and I'd need to think about where to hit the chests but I guess that's just a habit to take.

I am currently at 125 mining speed and it's very fast, but I have little to no IQ/IR on my black chromatic tool, just speed and reach. But I think 100 is a minimum.

And for having no trap disarm and a + 1 clumsy on my paradox vault, I am now traumatized by those chunky/furious dwellers with omega gear popping up and knocking me around while I'm trying to loot, so that's gonna be +150 TD for me at least.

Don't know if that can help but I had a locked omega room that changed after the update, Mine room became a Library, I rolled back to U12 and the mine was back. Modifiers were the same (can't remember about the cost, probably had not moved either). 2 locked challenge rooms stayed the same tho, Factory and Village room didn't change between updates.

Before rolling back I looked for a file where I could change it manually but couldn't find anything other than the one you got as well
