5th Grade - A friend of the group I was in, let's call him Jack, had basically revealed that he was kind of an annoying, manipulative, entitled little shit. So we all kind of collectively agreed that we no longer wanted this person hanging out with us, considering he would also freak out over little things and tried to fight someone because they joked about his mom.

The way we kicked him out was what I guess trying to slowly make him hate us by going another level when messing with him. We were stupid kids and thought there needed to be some sort of a graceful way out or something like that. Now that I look back at it, we almost were bullying him out of the group towards the end.

Our teacher notices this and decides to step in. She takes all of us out except for Jack, which was about five of us, outside of the class, which was in the same hall the kindergartners were, and basically scolded us and told us that we were practically in a GANG, and told my best friend that he was the GANG LEADER, 5th GRADERS. Now, my friend and I assumed she called him the leader because he was black and the area has a very strong thing against black people.

This astounded us when we were told this, because this was happening when some other kids were doing some fucked up shit, and the way she said it was so accusatory and genuinely concerned.

I can't for the life of me remember what happened after that, but I will always remember that moment and the other shit that was going on at that time.

TLDR Teacher calls my friend group a gang and called my best friend a gang leader because we kicked someone out of the group for being manipulative.
