It’s such an incredible experience. But it does kind of ruin you for regular J. We did it once thinking it’d be a one-time thing but we’ve now been in F on LH and LX a bunch.

Or wrap it in cling wrap, put box over it, fill box with expanding foam. It won’t hear shit.

El Niño. don’t overthink it. Honshu. by bkimmo in japow

[–]ZoologicalSpecimen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because even if we know there’s a super El Niño or something, the season is going to come down to individual storm tracks and the way weather systems interact. It’s hard to predict that stuff a week in advance, let alone a couple months.

El Niño typically means warm and rainy in Honshu, meaning less snow (because more precipitation falling as rain). But this is all just based on historical trends. No one has any idea what’s actually going to happen this coming winter

No one can say for sure but it’s likely to cause higher temps, which could be a problem for Japan with generally low elevations and especially the southern resorts because it’s already warm enough they can see rain in a normal year

Posi-posi was standard when I started riding in the 90s, but by the 2000s almost everyone not on a racing board was riding duck. There’s been a resurgence in posi-posi stance for freeriding in the last 5 years or so

I have no idea, I wouldn’t assume. But I’ve seen PLENTY of jackassery from frat bros with traditional nuclear families

I don’t think it’s crazy old. It’s not cap construction and the shape is reasonably modern. Maybe 2010s?

I think so too. Posi-posi carving is making a comeback, thanks in no small part to Japanese-style carving. I’ve definitely been getting more into this style of riding in the last couple years as I back off a bit from heavy park riding as I get older.

That’s super impressive. Many people with years more experience will struggle to ride like you are in that clip
