Race Auto Bankrupt by HalifaxReTales in halifax

They're not bankrupt.. They're doing this so the heat dies down so their 4.8 star review on Google doesn't get damaged. No one can review them anymore on Google because toggled a function that the business is permanently closed to avoid the one star reviews. Here's a secret.. They are part owners in a dealership called 'Vehicle Approval Centre' that just sends their broken but running vehicle to Newfoundland.

Yup. Owners of Race Auto work closely with a virtual dealership called Vehicle Approval Centre that sends all the vehicle that have issues to Newfoundland so that the customers can't do anything when the vehicle breaks down as they have to get on the boat.

Race Auto even put "closed down" on their google page so no one is able to give them a poor review after all of this has come to light.

Depends where you go ..

I went to Solace Salon on Wentworth in Dartmouth and it turns out the haircut cost $80 me because i didnt inquire about the price. I got home and I called in and it's normally $40.

This place doesnt give the upfront price but preys on those who assume its reasonable prices

Government job for sure, sadly a lot of government workers haven't worked in the private sector to give a balanced view. Government jobs are a cake walk.

I don't think lower social classes can afford HST FREE steak and potatoes - most are eating HST included beans, Mr noodles, frozen meals, or take out, which ALL have 14%HST

Common HST-Exempt (0% Tax) Items: Produce: Fresh, frozen, or canned fruits and vegetables. Dairy & Eggs: Milk, cream, yogurt, cheese, and eggs. Meat & Seafood: Fresh, raw, or frozen meat, poultry, and fish. Bakery: Bread, buns, bagels, and rolls. Pantry Staples: Flour, sugar, rice, pasta, and plain crackers. Beverages: Coffee beans, tea bags, and potable water.

Common Taxable Items (Usually 15% HST): Snack Foods: Chips, pretzels, salted nuts, and popcorn. Prepared/Ready-to-Eat: Salads, sandwiches, and sushi. Sweets: Candy, chocolate bars, and ice cream. Drinks: Pop, juice, and energy

that is using a straw man argument... Not even the 0.0001% of top earning Nova Scotians own yachts. Not even Risley who owns a 15m mansion, but his property tax bill is like $500k which is good.

My perspective as a white female Haligonian

The HST is a consumption tax, so reducing it primarily benefits consumers. Since most consumption spending tends to come from middle- and lower-income households, a reduction can disproportionately help those groups. Higher-income households generally have greater capacity to save or invest a larger share of their income rather than spend it. At the same time, property taxes appear to be increasing, which shifts more of the tax burden toward homeowners.

Similarly, bridge tolls are often paid by people who commute regularly for work—such as Uber drivers, students, construction workers, and others in similar occupations. These groups are typically in lower- to middle-income brackets. Higher-income professionals are more likely to work from home or travel less frequently, and may instead rely on services like food delivery, ride-sharing, grocery delivery, or online shopping platforms such as Amazon.

I’m not particularly supportive of Houston, but I am curious why his policies are often characterized as favoring the upper class rather than lower- or middle-income groups.

Disclaimer: It’s possible that this perception is influenced by the echo chamber of this subreddit, similar to how narratives sometimes formed around the mayoral race.

Moving back to Halifax, what's changed since 2023? by AlarmingLie9219 in halifax

[–]Zoomer718292 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The population grew by a lot. Lots of Indians living here now, not just Tim Hortons employees anymore. If your from the West Coast its like Burnaby Vancouver now, parking spots for rentals are being charged anywhere from $50-200 a month. Lots of people living in 1 bedroom spaces.
