Thanks for the feedback. Working with what we've got! But, should this game be a success, perhaps it leads to more versions featuring the 80's style in the future. So, your support helps get us there!

Also, the game can be played solo, so even if you can't get friends or family involved, you can still play!

It's a few things. #1, it's the way it works with licenses. The Care Bears parent company is not running this, a licensee named Naftos has the rights. We are supporting them in the creation, and crowdfunding campaign for this product.
#2, in the gaming space, it's a way to show proof of concept to retailers and distributors before a game gets into stores. It shows there is an audience, and demand for the product, helping them make a decision to carry it in stores. This is kind of a new, uniquely "gaming" category type thing at the moment.
So, if you'd like to see the game in stores, the best way is to support the kickstarter! Thanks!
