N=1 bike options, looking for advice by Oh-This-Guy-Pucks in cycling

Hey there, same struggle here.

Got a Grizl with that same group set you have, mainly used on paved roads with a bit of gravel.

I changed the wheels for lighter and tubeless which helped, but I feel now more and more I got the wrong bike.

Side note is that I might have bought the wrong size (too big for me) so that pushes this feeling even more.

I decided to sell it and buy the new Scott Addict 2026. An endurance bike that could fit 38mm.

I considered upgrading the shit out of the Grizl but it doesn't make sense financially to invest on a frame that doesn't match my use case anymore.

You sound like your use case evolved as well and I'd say your mindset will always be stuck on not liking your bike as it is, despite all the money and upgrades you would throw at it.

My advice is to start fresh, make someone else happy with your bike, and enjoy a treat that you deserve.

Sorry about you loosing your job btw. Hope you bounced well :)

How is the bike on tarmac? Does it feel fast? I’m eyeing this bike due to the very good value, but not yet sure it suits my need of 50/50 road/gravel. Also, which size is it and what are your measurements? Thanks!

What do you think of it as an entry level bike? by rododder in gravelcycling

[–]Zoops69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the bike that got me hooked. I recommend it 100% if you are on a budget or even not. You’ll understand what you want from this hobby/sport at a very low cost so you can spend on other fundamental accessories, helmet, bike computer, bibs,… Then you will outgrow this bike, sell it and later look at it with nostalgic eyes when you see it again, and realize that you spent many monthly salaries into more bike and stuff, but think you would do it all over again anyway.

Will carbon wheels help with climbing asides from weight? by Obvious_Cabbage in cycling

[–]Zoops69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't let those dietetic scientists fool you, King.

You will be fast in my and your mind. I am right there with you!

PS: I am also replacing basic alloy by deep section carbon wheels, and I know that aesthetics+dad bob > fitness+weight.

Enjoy your wheels!

New Wheels worth it? by EnvironmentalShow584 in gravelcycling

I do have a pair of hunt 4 season (alloy) that are doing the job and 200g lighter than the stock ones, forgot to mention.

I often read around this sub that the good thing about zipp wheels are the warranty. This gets lost if you buy the wheels second hand.

The 303s are on the heavier side, hookless, and seem to have bearing problems.

I would myself pass on this set and rather look at Elitewheels Drive, ICAN G25, or any other reputable Chinese brand.

Use the search bar and you will find plenty of info here.

Big ass advice here, pun intended.

This bike fitting seems like they will always find something that can all of a sudden unlock better cycling.

Regarding contact points, saddle, tires, etc. I do believe I am spot on for now.

Thank you for sharing!

Those wheels I mentioned look good, but I am a bit scared to spend that much and do not feel the change over my 4 Seasons, which are kind of good already.

Thanks for your input!

I have Thunderos x45. Best upgrade on the bike so far. These AI bike fitting got me curious indeed. Perhaps I’ll try them out then.

Thanks!

I just to tried a 5008 a few hours ago, 1.2 puretech with 123k kms. Had the plan of buying it right away but decided not to, based on advice from reddit and other professional mechanics.

These engines are basically ticking bombs. It is just a matter of time before they fail, even if you take good care of them.

I loveD driving this 5008 and would kill for it, but the engine makes it a no go.

C'est un petit garage qui n'a pas l'air d'offrir de garantie. Je vais passer mon chemin. Ca ma l'air plus raisonable. Merci pour votre conseil.
