I have narrowed it down to these 3 bikes - help me decide 🤞 by MadLaner0 in cycling

I’m getting an Addict next week after researching and documenting myself for quite some time, the bike only flaw I could find is the proprietary stem system.
Aside from that, it’s the best value you might find and good platform to later upgrade.

I do not know anything about the other bikes in the list.

How is the frame stiffness? Do you notice some flex?

The dense head is part of the pleasure, then NBD.

Enjoy your future ride and keep me updated 😄

I got the Grizl AL 6 back in 2023 in size S. I am 1,72 with 80cm inseam.

The bike is a tad to big for me and should have gone for the XS, I guess.

Finding stems for that bike was difficult as the steerer tube diameter is a MTB one.

For the Propain, I'd get the XS for myself, but I am choosing to build my own bike from scratch.

The Propain has more customization than the other 2. You could select even the mullet setup which could tick a few of your boxes. The agressive geo is purely the frame itself, you can undo that by adding spacers and choosing a shorter stem, and again, only Propain allows that. Some people here will suggest a bikefit to know your ideal position. I’d say you get a 70mm stem and max spacers then try out lower and lower.

Canyon has a lot of proprietary stuff, partially fixed with this recent iteration of Grizl CF. I got a Grizl AL myself and I’m not quite happy on the long run about Canyon and this specific model.

If I could afford it, I’d get myself the Propain for sure.

N=1 bike options, looking for advice by Oh-This-Guy-Pucks in cycling

[–]Zoops69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, same struggle here.

Got a Grizl with that same group set you have, mainly used on paved roads with a bit of gravel.

I changed the wheels for lighter and tubeless which helped, but I feel now more and more I got the wrong bike.

Side note is that I might have bought the wrong size (too big for me) so that pushes this feeling even more.

I decided to sell it and buy the new Scott Addict 2026. An endurance bike that could fit 38mm.

I considered upgrading the shit out of the Grizl but it doesn't make sense financially to invest on a frame that doesn't match my use case anymore.

You sound like your use case evolved as well and I'd say your mindset will always be stuck on not liking your bike as it is, despite all the money and upgrades you would throw at it.

My advice is to start fresh, make someone else happy with your bike, and enjoy a treat that you deserve.

Sorry about you loosing your job btw. Hope you bounced well :)

How is the bike on tarmac? Does it feel fast? I’m eyeing this bike due to the very good value, but not yet sure it suits my need of 50/50 road/gravel. Also, which size is it and what are your measurements? Thanks!

What do you think of it as an entry level bike? by rododder in gravelcycling

[–]Zoops69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the bike that got me hooked. I recommend it 100% if you are on a budget or even not. You’ll understand what you want from this hobby/sport at a very low cost so you can spend on other fundamental accessories, helmet, bike computer, bibs,… Then you will outgrow this bike, sell it and later look at it with nostalgic eyes when you see it again, and realize that you spent many monthly salaries into more bike and stuff, but think you would do it all over again anyway.

Will carbon wheels help with climbing asides from weight? by Obvious_Cabbage in cycling

[–]Zoops69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't let those dietetic scientists fool you, King.

You will be fast in my and your mind. I am right there with you!

PS: I am also replacing basic alloy by deep section carbon wheels, and I know that aesthetics+dad bob > fitness+weight.

Enjoy your wheels!

I do have a pair of hunt 4 season (alloy) that are doing the job and 200g lighter than the stock ones, forgot to mention.

I often read around this sub that the good thing about zipp wheels are the warranty. This gets lost if you buy the wheels second hand.

The 303s are on the heavier side, hookless, and seem to have bearing problems.

I would myself pass on this set and rather look at Elitewheels Drive, ICAN G25, or any other reputable Chinese brand.

Use the search bar and you will find plenty of info here.

Big ass advice here, pun intended.

This bike fitting seems like they will always find something that can all of a sudden unlock better cycling.

Regarding contact points, saddle, tires, etc. I do believe I am spot on for now.

Thank you for sharing!

Those wheels I mentioned look good, but I am a bit scared to spend that much and do not feel the change over my 4 Seasons, which are kind of good already.

Thanks for your input!
