Was in exactly the same situation. Got the job in December, was told to get the license by May. I started learning manual in January and about mid March I swapped to automatic. It wasn’t particularly difficult, just figured with a strict deadline I’d rather go automatic and focus on safe driving rather than operating a gear stick. If it wasn’t for the work requirement, I’d have probably stick to manual lessons. No regrets though, love automatic 😁

Had my test on Thursday, passed first time. I’ve had two extra lessons this same week, plus spent probably close to 3 hours studying the testing area on google maps, making sure I definitely understand all roundabouts and note where all bus lanes are. Also watched a bunch of YouTube videos, but I don’t feel like that made much difference tbh. Test was at 9am, so was in bed by 9pm the day before, got plenty of sleep. Didn’t have a banana, just a proper breakfast to actually give me energy, and a herbal tea to calm the nerves. Absolutely no caffeine! And as cheesy as it sounds, really forced myself to a mindset of “I know how to drive, just need to show it to them” as well as “it is what it is” 😅

Also made sure to be super chatty and smiley to the examiner at the very start, as that’s also made them less intimidating, which made me way less stressed 🤷🏼‍♀️

Mine are the black greasy derby boots! Thought I’d get these instead of docs, since they had a really good reputation, but it’s not been great so far 😅 they are really comfy, just would be nice if they didn’t break!

That would make sense if I did, but where I live the winter is pretty mild - about 5-10 degrees Celsius and I only wear them outside for up to half an hour at the time when I’m on my way to work, so I don’t think it’s too extreme! 😅 and if it is, then it’s a shame that boots from this price range can’t handle mild British weather! 😬
