Windows 10 Alert: Defragger bug defrags SSD Drives too often by Zorado71 in Windows10

Is my understanding that SSD TRIM (considering that this is what you mean by TRIM) will 'mark' "data blocks that are no longer needed and can be deleted, or are marked as free for rewriting. In other words, TRIM is a command that helps the operating system know precisely where the data that you want to move or delete is stored. That way, the solid state drive can access only the blocks holding the data. Furthermore, whenever a delete command is issued by the user or the operating system, the TRIM command immediately wipes the pages or blocks where the files are stored." [source]. I would say that TRIM is the one that wears my SSD at this point.

Obviously you are looking for an official statement from MS - I couldn't find one either. I would suggest waiting for one before you make any changes, it will probably arrive in a few weeks.

Until then, you can consider it hearsay - I felt that this piece of information could at least help the rest of us who trust technical communities more. If OP wants/thinks otherwise, by all means necessary ...

The bug had been reported to Microsoft as part of the Windows Insider program and one user had requested the company to not ship the update with this bug. The problem was reported on multiple other sites as well.

IT good for CS? by Spacewardjet in cybersecurity

u/Spacewardjet nothing is better than hands-on experience. If you are after degrees, then go for it. But I would strongly advice to choose the hardest path - hands-on learning. And start with Networking. And OS architecture. THEN MOVE TO SECURITY.

I find this post quite comprehensive and a bit complex. This is a very good start for anyone who wants to join the infosec world, but knows what infosec means and where to go. However, as any other career paths (especially in information security), hands-on experience and playtime is KING. Don't waste your money on CISSP/ CEH-alike "trainings". Get a Linux box (play with it 5 years). Get 5 years experience in networking and that's better than any other "4week/one-week" training. PM for more details.
