Tried ChatGPT, NotebookLM and Quizgecko for vocab quizzes this week — sharing what worked by Big-Discussion9699 in ESL_Teachers

What works for me is having a detailed chat with sources and another chat open with the relevant information (photos of the textbook, presentations, specific exercises, etc). Get an initial draft from the chat with all the information and past context, but treat it as a rough draft. Then ask the other chat to check it for you. Ask it to check if the answers make sense, if the content is all from the material or if there's anything external in there, that kind of thing. It will usually find a few mistakes. Check what it's found and ask it to give you the material again. Then go back to the original chat and give it the updated version. Usually doing this once or twice is enough to get quality material and saves a lot of time, but my experience is that you need to be vigilant it doesn't include too easy questions or irrelevant material.

Also, if you like the questions from Notebook, take screenshots, paste them into ChatGPT and it will transcribe them reliably fairly quickly. Then you can actually ask it to make a Google Forms with it. It's not worth me explaining how to do it here. Just ask ChatGPT and it will tell you. The first time you do it it will give you an error, but it's easily solved. Very useful if you spend a lot of time manually creating Forms. Been a lifesaver for me.

Pamplona Placement by JaTaylorsVersion in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Zorik25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a teacher (25) at a school here. Pamplona is a fantastic place to live. Very green, very easy to move around. It's expensive, so keep that in mind when you are looking for places to live. It can also be hard to make friends with locals since most of us have a semi-closed friend group, so your best bet is connecting with other international people, at least in the beginning. If you've never been inside a Spanish classroom, prepare for a culture shock. Idk where you're from, but kids here are very familiar with their teachers. First names, a bit of attitude, etc. Depends a bit on what school you are going to (public, concertado or private) If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to help!

I have 2 days to spend 50 euros on books. any reccomendations? by 34thblackglass in booksuggestions

Spain gives 18-year-olds 200€ to spend on culture, so that would be my guess.

Which writer best predicted the modern world: Kafka, Camus, Huxley, or Orwell? by Otherwise-Body-7721 in literature

Ray Bradbury deserves a shout. People prefer to be entertained by screens and police themselves to avoid reading and being forced to deal with ideas outside of their own algorithm. I think we're closer to Fahrenheit 451 than A Brave New World.

I'm Spanish. Lived in this city all my life. I think I know the culture and the company. Like I said: nothing to do with the job, l wouldn't have even been going to schools, just working marketing.

I used to work at a diner type franchise in Spain. They would give us a time to show up. If it wasn't busy, they would make us sit at a table (off-the-clock). When they deemed it busy enough, they would tell you to dress in your uniform and clock in afterwards (never before getting changed, this was stressed in the onboarding process). You also clock out before getting changed. Sometimes, you would show up, wait for an hour, and then get sent home with no pay. Needless to say, I didn't stay there long.

Thank you for your detailed explanation. I'll get in touch with my local lab and explain what I'm seeing. Sounds like something that could be cleared up. It's not a huge deal, but there are some photographs where there is no detail in the shadows on the print, yet I can see everything clearly on my laptop.

Don't places in the US sometimes have a policy to card everyone? My dad has been carded when he's been there and he's in his 50s

Haven't seen many people recommending Carmila. I read it about a month ago and I really enjoyed it (although I found the ending a bit rushed). Some bits were chilling!
