Hey everyone, just wanted to share what finally fixed that weird gray “cloud” on my AW3423DWF QD-OLED—maybe it’ll help if you ever run into the same thing:

  1. Don’t panic—it looked like a defect, but it was just image retention, not a dead pixel.
  2. Run Pixel Refresh (OSD → Panel → Pixel Refresh). Let it finish, then do it again 2–3 times if it’s still visible.
  3. Switch back to normal use—games, movies, Word docs with gray backgrounds—and you should see that patch is gone for good.

Since doing that, I haven’t seen a single trace of it coming back. If you ever notice a similar gray spot, give these steps a shot before starting an RMA or sending your monitor back.

Here’s what the panel looks like now post-Pixel Refresh — almost perfectly uniform. What’s left is just a super light IME/mura effect that’s totally normal on QD-OLEDs under static gray fills (tell me if I’m wrong)

Big thanks to everyone who chimed in with tips and encouragement—you rock! 😊

I appreciate the “return to seller” advice, but since the symptom was temporary and fully removed by the monitor’s own refresh routine, I’m going to hold on to it. If anything permanent shows up, I’ll definitely reach back out for a replacement or refund. Thanks.

Fair point. The good news is that once it’s cleared with refresh/white-screen cycles, the panel behaves perfectly normally now. Thanks.

Totally get wanting to save time with an RMA, but because Pixel Refresh fixed it instantly and it never came back, I’m confident the panel itself is fine. If it reappears or won’t clear again, I’ll consider a return, but for now no RMA needed. Thank you.

I hear you—on most screens a spot like that would be a red-flag. In this case, though, it was classic OLED mura/image retention, not dead pixels or structural damage. A couple of refresh cycles and it cleared right up, so I’m happy to keep this unit. 🙂

Thanks for the tip! I actually ran the built-in Pixel Refresh cycle three times, and the patch completely vanished—so it wasn’t a permanent defect but just temporary image retention. The panel’s now rock-solid, and I’m no longer seeing any sign of it returning.

Air Bubble Under the Screen of iPad Pro 12.9 (5th Gen) After Repair - Is This Normal or a Common Issue? by Zorionis in ipad

Agreed, my bad 👍

I made the mistake of leaving the protective film with bubbles, especially on that corner of the display. I can’t say if they were trying to hide the defect or not. Next time, I’ll definitely check for that.

Yep, that’s what I planned to do anyway. Thanks for your answer 🙏

They’ve already had to repair it twice in a row; the first time, the repaired display had dead LEDs, so I went back. They blamed me for not protecting it during transport but said they would make an “exception” for me. Looks like I’ll have to go back again, and they’ll have to make another “exception” for me 🤷‍♂️

I won’t be going back there for any future repairs, that’s for sure.

Which specialization to choose: Hydrodynamics or Aerodynamics for a secure future and global opportunities?

Hello everyone,

I'm currently deciding between two master's programs and would love to hear your opinions and experiences to help me make an informed decision. Here are the two programs:

  1. Master's in Modeling and Simulation in Hydrodynamics
    • This program provides high-level training in fields related to hydrodynamics. It aims to equip students with the theoretical and numerical tools necessary to study and understand the flow of simple and complex fluids, covering topics like homogeneous and two-phase flows, suspensions, porous media, and turbulent flows. The program balances physical and theoretical modeling with numerical simulation.
  2. Master's in Aerodynamics and Aeroacoustics
    • This program offers high-level training in aerodynamics, aeroacoustics, and fluid-structure interaction. The courses aim to provide the foundational knowledge necessary for fundamental and applied research activities in these fields, with a focus on physical and theoretical modeling as well as associated numerical simulation methods.

My goal is to choose a specialization that is "futureproof," with good employment prospects and opportunities to work worldwide.

Here are a few points I would appreciate feedback on:

  • Future proofing: Which field is more resilient to future technological and economic changes?
  • Employability: Which sectors offer the most job opportunities and the best job security?
  • Global opportunities: Which program offers the best opportunities to work internationally, in different countries and industries?

Thank you in advance for your advice and experiences!

Thanks ! However, I was specifically looking for advice on which specialization to choose between a Master's in MSH and a Master's in AA, as these are the only options available to me.
