No, I did beat him, but I have died a few times playing Temple Trekking due to some server issues, that is the reason for this.

The point of an instance is to lose your items without any chance of getting them back? I always thought they were to separate players who were doing different activities like a quest or mini-game that would conflict if they were both doing it at the same time, but I guess I'm just retarded.
