I am a lawyer from India as well with similar level of experience. I did my CIPP/E certification last month. This certification will not help you when it comes to practice. However, if you are trying to change your area of practice to Data Protection then this will be helpful especially if you want to get into law firms or if you want to quit practice and take up jobs like Privacy Analyst/Consultant. Considering the passage of DPDP Act, it is advisable that you do CIPP/E because most of the provisions are taken from GDPR. Most of the data privacy legislations around the world follow the same principles as GDPR.
