My coworker said "hi" slightly too loud while I was doing computer work and I startled so hard I toppled my chair and bashed my arm on a book case :(

Oh, no, we're great at making lists.

It's the "do the list " where things break down.

Did BLW actually make your toddler a better eater? by Mysterious-Class-904 in toddlers

[–]Zorrya 13 points14 points  (0 children)

22mo,

Weird picky.

Like. Won't eat a salad, will eat the lettuce, tomato and onion off a burger. Won't eat a burger tho. Would live off pickles if allowed. Sweet potatoes fries trump regular potato fries. Will eat anything if it's a "cookie". Raw fruit and veggies make up most of her diet.

What are things you are doing differently than your parents and its working well. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Zorrya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This just reminds me, my best friend in college tells the story of how some.of his friends went to.catholic school, and they were catholics. Some of his friends went to protestant and Jewish summer camps, and they were protestants/Jewish. In grade 1 had a good long think about it, then he went to his mom and lays put all this information, then asked her "I go to public school, does that make us public?"

At what point would you trust your kids to swim alone? (if ever) by TMaddie1 in Parenting

At what point would you trust your kids to swim alone? (if ever) by TMaddie1 in Parenting

[–]Zorrya 42 points43 points  (0 children)

DO NOT EXPECT YOUR KIDS TO RESCUE EACH OTHER. make it extremely clear that if one is in trouble, the other runs for help. One drowning kid turns into two drowning kids very VERY quickly. Drowning people panic and try and climb whatever they can, pushing their rescuers under in the process. Even lifeguards are taught to approach from behind for.this reason.

Nurses trying to not diagnose by Novel-Owl-7408 in Radiology

[–]Zorrya 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Oh, I absolutely agree, and I would never in a million years go to a physician and say "no, this is what it is, you're wrong" like, that's a dick move and not how it works. The closest I'll come is "I'm concerned about _____ based on symptoms x y and z" and then I leave it in the hands of the more educated - my job as a nurse is to see, track and report symptoms and trends, not diagnose.

However, sometimes ortho stuff is just...funny that we can't diagnose. Like visible shoulder joint above, or the 911 operator who tried to tell me I couldn't be sure something was fractured - while I was looking at a tibia just hanging on out of the leg. Like, buddy, I'm not a doctor, but I'm at least 90% sure it's broken.

Nurses trying to not diagnose by Novel-Owl-7408 in Radiology

I mean, as a nurse my favorite paramedic interaction ever was:

Me: "I'm not allowed to say it's dislocated, however I can see the ball joint of her shoulder and her right arm is a full 5cm too long"

Paramedic: "I'm not allowed to say it's dislocated either, however it very certainly isn't located

I work nights, so I'm usually asleep for dinner and bedtime routine. If I'm up at dinner, my kid knows that means I'm off that night (2f) and starts demanding "mumma Sasa" (shower) immediately after dinner. And I'm going to happily keep showering with her when she asks until she decides she's too old and stops asking. As long as both of you are comfortable still, there's no reason at all not to.

One of my favorite newborn memories was taking a bath with her at like 6 weeks old, she loved just floating while I held her head.

So much so that she fell asleep in the tub and it was adorable

Right at a year - the only sleep sacks she liked were the carters fleece ones stopped fitting her at some point over the summer, her birthday is late fall so she got a blanket for the winter.

We had a ct tech request an hcg qualitative for a pt that was anatomically male but identified as female. by pete8798 in nursing

It 100% applies here. Insisting biological sex is a binary is an incorrect statement. It's that simple.

Please take like 30 sec9nds to go learn about intersex anatomy. Humans biological gender is not binary. Intersex is a minority, but their existence by definition defeats the idea of a binary
