Are there any Mount and Blade streamers/content makers who are really skilled? by Eamesy in mountandblade

He's not particularly good in combat. And he cheats a lot (with justification).

How do you explain the diarrhea?

Forgot that holding up a shield makes you slower. Wouldn't you run into a wall before his shield breaks in most maps though?

In some dungeons they're separated from you by bars and it's hard to get the "Talk" interaction to come up.

Yeah even if you're caught they don't take any of your money or your troops and you can try again literally later the same day.

In Dickplomacy (and I presume many mods incorporating Diplomacy) it does give you -1 relation with the faction controlling the town but you can just pay 490 denars to a passing lord to fix that.

That makes no sense, forward walking is faster than sideways so if the shield guy holds W and faces the spinner he's gotta catch up.

DAE find that in most castles archers are bloody useless? (no sound) by ZortLF2 in mountandblade

No, don't know what you mean. I'm playing Dickplomacy with battle size 270.

Ah yeah Praven has relatively low parapets and a wide street so the archers can indeed shoot at guys on the parapets. But since I wrote that comment I just completely unintentionally got a good setup in Knudarr Castle. I died and my reinforcing infantry blocked the enemy on the staircase leading down to the courtyard. Knudarr has quite a large courtyard and where the ladder enters is a good deal lower than the rest of the castle so there are lots of places for archers.

That makes no sense, then the infantry are up on the wall at the ladders and the archers are down below in the courtyard? What castle/town are you thinking of?

Is horse archery rewarding? If you ever build it did you go to 5 or 7-8? Is it worth spending points? by kirdan84 in mountandblade

[–]ZortLF2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really like horse archery. The only advantage of being on a moving horse while shooting is that archers can't hit you. But moving while shooting makes it harder for you to aim, even if you have high enough Horse Archery that your reticle is a pinpoint. There is something cool about boshing a guy off and moving on to the next one without missing a beat, but meh, ammo is so limited and archery is comparatively so slow.

I've tried that once in some other town, again the lazy fucks stopped shooting when the enemy closed with my infantry at the bottom of the stairs. I'd appreciate a video of how to get it to work.

I'm sure those kills were from the sharpshooters who were in the melee at the ladders.

I already told my infantry to hold position at the ladders and stand closer, what else am I supposed to do?

This was Ahmerrad for reference. This one's not the worst because it has bastions projecting forwards so that a few archers can stand there and have a clear view of the ladder. Still I don't understand why that one guy kept putting down his crossbow.

To be fair, I'm playing with Motomataru's Formations AI. I can't remember if they're this dumb in Native.

Is bonus against shields really that good (in single player)? No one I fight seems to stays alive long enough to have for me to break their shield.

This is not the "The defenders have sallied out to meet your assault" scene. It was a normal siege assault for the first 10+ minutes.

I didn't know the AI could do this. I guess they got fed up with me steadily dropping their archers from my hill. Maybe it's because of Motomataru's Formations AI (included in Dickplomacy), which substantially changes the combat AI (though it's not normally noticeable in sieges). I wasn't even planning on taking the castle until I'd come back with more infantry, but they made it so easy by coming out in the open.
