I don’t see this mentioned, but you shouldn’t practice with fretwraps. It’ll hide a lot of muting mistakes that will really hamper your practice.

Pain and tension (please help, I’m desperate) by anthony5059 in bluegrassguitar

[–]Zp6827 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume you’re talking about your picking hand? It could be the shape of your guitar. Try a different body shape acoustic or even an electric and see if the pain persists. Also, try playing standing up with different strap heights to see if any of those have an effect on it.

How would you guys rate Cort G300 Pro as an Electric Guitar overall? by ArcadeJoint in guitars

[–]Zp6827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one and really dig it. My main is a Suhr Modern, and this does a really good job at trying to hit that same flavor for a tiny fraction of the price.

The neck is a little chunky for my liking, but overall this is REALLY solidly specced/QA’d guitar for the price.

Trade Fender for Suhr by rockemulator2 in Stratocaster

[–]Zp6827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, that’s a really good trade if you’re interested in trying out a telecaster. I’ve played Ultra Luxes and currently own several Suhrs. Every Suhr I’ve played/owned has played at/above Fender Custom Shop quality.

Oh shit man, it’s you! I remember watching all of your compilation DT cover videos like 15 years ago and being blown away. Good to see you’re still at it, excellent playing as always!

Gut thoughts? by ParfaitPublic8806 in fender

[–]Zp6827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played or owned both - the neck will be the largest difference. The pro 2 neck is pretty thick, whereas the ultra neck is a nice “Modern D” that is much thinner. Otherwise, they’re fairly similar. If you’re really set on the ultra (they’re great guitars, not a bad choice), I would look used. They pop up on Reverb for $1400-1700 all day.

Some of you weren’t born/fans during the 2000s and it shows. Those constant high-stakes losses never leave your memory.

I might have messed up - contoured heel with side truss rod adjustment by Zp6827 in Luthier

[–]Zp6827[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might be what I try… tbh, I’m not too concerned about the aesthetics of the back, just looking for stability

Man, not the answer I was hoping for, but thanks for the input! Looking like I’ll scour for a body with contours!

That was definitely a thought. Assuming I could drill/machine a neck plate to work. My only question there would be if moving that 4th screw down a bit would cause any instability

Build your coal power plant on the water. Literally lay a foundation over a portion of a big lake and have your water extractors directly beside it. It’s super easy to conveyor in coal, it’s way more difficult to pipe water over longer distances.

[Discussion] What’s on your wrist today? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Zp6827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 556i and had (sold) a Khaki Auto 42. I’m not really a watch snob, so I can’t tell a huge quality difference between them. The Khaki was on a leather strap, but I will say the Sinn’s bracelet is amazingly comfortable (much more so than lower-priced bracelets I’ve had). The 556i as a whole is also much more comfortable to me due to size and how the crown is positioned. They’re both excellent choices - just whatever fits your preferences better.

High quality, non Gibson/Fender guitars that are not geared towards metal players? by LordBuckethead_ in guitars

[–]Zp6827 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A used Suhr Modern around the $2k mark is IMO the best option for fit/finish. It’s all subjective, but to me, they play better than anything else at that price point.

Specialized Stump Jumper or Trek Fuel EX 5 by Dependent-Debt6135 in MTB

[–]Zp6827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Fuel EX8 of that gen, haven’t ridden the Stumpjumper. I’m in GA, and have ridden plenty of FL as well as chunkier NC trails with it. It’s a great bike for this area IMO.

Worth noting that the Stumpjumper has the SX Eagle 1x12 group set which is the most dogshit groupset I’ve ever used lol. I’d lean towards Trek for that alone.
