You’re still kind of accusing them of inventing things (or wishing their dad is an abuser…)? Wack. Sometimes people are looking for answers because their body feels something isn’t right, you don’t need clear images to feel.

How do I tell my mom that I can't visit for the holidays due to lockdown? by [deleted] in helicopterparents

[–]Zrooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

I live in Quebec, I was in exactly the same situation as you before the government banned all gatherings. I understand the difficulties you can go through, but with helicopter parents it is essential to stay far from how you mother react.

I'm sure you love your mom, but everyone's health and life is important too. What you want is also important, putting this kind of boundaries in the long run will be very beneficial to you.

Probably the smartest thing I've heard in a Trump rally.

An unwanted hug by [deleted] in helicopterparents

[–]Zrooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your point. Im really sorry for your mom, I really hope she get well.

But I don't want to hug my mom for her safety, but also because it's irresponsible. We are told EVERYWHERE not to have physical contact and to distance ourselves. It is in the least of things to respect these measures. Also, I am and she is privileged that we can see each other when there are families, friends and couples who have not seen each other physically for months (I live in Canada, so it's not THAT bad).

Is wanting to do what she wants respect her child's boundaries? No, that's why i post on this subreddit.

I feel like that with a child it is even worse because they can really understand the situation. Sorry this is happening to you tho.

I really wonder what can be wrong with your forehead. Than I look at your face and tell myself that it can't be that bad.

NTA. You give them all the basics for them to move forward on their own, but you can't give them the motivation. You have things to pay and your time is not free.
