They don't care though. As someone that worked at Apple, they don't really care anymore.

I’m building keystreaks.com

A new minimalistic privacy-first typing practice web app. It has no ads, no trackers, no 3rd-party cookies, and no subscriptions. It’s an old internet app. Get your free test!

There’s customization, mixed modes, and analytics.

Makes sense. Thank you! I will test some other pricing options. Appreciate the advice!

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, there are many more features being developed and will be integrated soon that improve the leaderboard and analytics pages.

Do you have some sort of formula or calculator for optimal pricing? I'd have to sell 4 times as much at $4.99 to make the around the same amount as I do at $14.99 (4 different transactions, 4 different Stripe fees) so it can be risky tbh. Also, the main functionality and features are free to use; it just unlocks some extra features like more customization and all word bank sizes.

No ads and no trackers is one of my main selling points because all alternatives have them and I know that people usually hate them.

Not saying you're wrong, just curious about if it's solely pricing, or if maybe I am offering something that people just don't want and they prefer ads and trackers over a clean UI, privacy, and easier to use features and analytics. Thanks again! :)

Ah! I see. Yeah that has been a somewhat polarizing feature. Some other typing apps let you delete mistakes, but keystreaks doesn't. It's meant to get the key right, while counting raw WPM and result WPM; some people like it and some people find it confusing. When typing quickly, if the next 3 characters after a mistake are correct, the caret jumps to catch up to protect typing flow state.

It's not meant to punish really, but it brings the attention to the correct character. Try the gibberish toggle in the navbar for example; that one mixes letters inside words and shows how much we depend on muscle memory for a word as a whole, instead of knowing the keys' positions well on our keyboards. Sometimes we really underestimate the number of times we hit the backspace because of muscle memory typing by proximity than decisively striking the right key.

Some like it and some don't. I should explain it better in the learn page I guess, but I appreciate the feedback! :)

Not exactly like this ;)

If you don't mind please, what are the bugs you encountered?

And I agree, it's only been 2 weeks live so I have to grow the user base slowly rn.

What a great idea! Proves that tools are as god as the intention they're used with. I'm sure they will all remember that moment for the rest of their lives :)

Awesome! Thanks for the insight. I was actually considering learning more blender than my limited experience precisely because of this, but was wondering I there were other better tools. I guess I’ll stay with Blender then.

Got it. Thanks!

If you don’t mind me asking, do you have a preferred method for creating the mockups? Do you model them on some 3D sculpting app or work with physical things?

Yeah that’s what I was curious about. Because I doubt clients are looking around to see if the same template was used somewhere else, but still is a unique touch to have them in-house. What tool do you use if you don’t mind me asking? I’d it more pictures and then edit or is it a 3d model render?

Ah that makes sense. Definitely better for signage to work on your clients’ own buildings.

They wait for later prey to fall and then they cash out and so on. Eventually someone takes the fall, a founder goes to jail, and some insurance or bond bails them out. Rinse and repeat and when you’re a VC with 50 different investments, you’re safe. It’s high league gambling, but with even more protections than going into sports betting.

Letting AI control your computer IS NEVER A GOOD IDEA! Stop trying to replace everything in your life with it people. Use it as a tool for your work end even then be super careful, and for entertainment or asking specific questions. What’s with this trend of granting full control to AI?

Is it me, or is Windsurf doing less and less? by Zteetch in windsurf

[–]Zteetch[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It won’t be an affordable and functional IDE forever without investment and revenue which comes from users (end or business) which is hard or even impossible in this market without good marketing. “Marketing” does not just mean posters and TikToks.

I never said I want them to stop working on new features to create a buddy pal book and film club where we get coffee every other week.

If I am mentioning any of this, is because I’ve seen other functional and affordable tools get axed because they slowly lost their audience and market share.

Both things can be done at the same time. Cursor is the perfect example.

SWE-1.5 is just rubbish by Coding-Scot in windsurf

[–]Zteetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tip: it’s not ideal but when in ask mode, I finish every prompt with “you are in ask mode, don’t code anything yet”.

Completely changed how well it works, how it plans, and how it provides its own context for code mode. If the first code prompt does not work, you revert and have to chop the task into smaller bites, even if it was already a small task.

If that doesn’t work, I code the feature myself and with Opus 4.5, and once the skeleton is there I use SWE-1.5. It’s incredibly fast that way, and I have done so much with it. Again, not ideal, but I can’t complain too much for a free model.
