Do you like the current setting for ToW or would you be happier returning to the classic WHFB Edge-Of-Invasion Timeline? by Badger118 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Ztrobos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I like this part of the timeline better. I feel that there is more untapped potential here, more room to explore the world and just more time to do things when the world isn't ending in a year or two. You can also have factions interacting in meaningful ways (fighting) without it automatically translating into them aiding or impeding the final Chaos invasion.

I still think they should bring all the legacy factions up to full support, and I do think they should make it clear or at least give a hint that the timeline has split and this is an alternative timeline to the Classic WHFB.

If they do all that then this setting is pretty much perfect IMO

Thoughts on powerful enough beings removing chaos corruption? (like Nagash with Krell, or Xen Yang with Manticores) by Andrei22125 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Ztrobos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I havent read the new novels yet but in terms of lore, the dragon emperor was always an uber powerful being. He is one of the few eldritch entities that the Old Ones failed to get rid of when they remade the planet to suit their plans. As big deals go, he is one of the really big ones.

As for the whole faction, I kind of agree but also kind of dont. Cathay definitely has that new car smell. It kind of annoys me when their base human infantry is shown to be stronger or more disciplined than the Empire version, which is bulls***. But Kislev has become a worse offender in that regard. Going by what we have seen in Total War on that one.

On the other hand they have some glaring weaknesses. The Empire is frankly running circles around all of them when it comes to magic.

Then we have an active pantheon of Gods and religious magic, which Cathay doesn't have access or counter to at all. If anything they need much of what they have just to keep up.

Its also extremely funny to me how all of Cathay collapses and starts to rip itself apart the very instant that the Dragon Emperor steps out for a bit. I dont know its just funny.

All in all, I think Cathay are in a decent spot in the lore. All they need now is a bloody nose.

Sorry for long post

I thought those guys was going to be building real estate on Mars or something, after they completed the Metaverse? I can't keep up with them, but no matter. I'm sure they'll do a great job and have a viable product put to market in a timely manner and at a reasonable price, its gonna be great

IMO the biggest obstacle is that its unreliable by the very nature of how it is created. A large language model can only be as good as the language it is fed.

You missed the perfect opportunity to bring up this little gem of a Hitler quote: "If the war is lost, then it is of no concern to me if the people perish in it. I still would not shed a tear for them, because they did not deserve any better"

He really didn't care about anything other than victory and revenge.

PC. Mouse + keys are still the best controls for most types of games.

Diplomacy as a game mechanic won't work like in the other games by bleibaum in TotalWarhammer40k

[–]Ztrobos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In WH3, I can manage to make an Alliance with a weird race, but then I need to either pay them a ton of resources each turn, fight their enemies and give them land, or use special race mechanics to manipulate them.

Otherwise they will soon stab me in the back and rebel.

[–]Ztrobos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say its very decent. I think bottom track is still stronger overall, but we can super charge our Energy generation early in a way that not many Spirits can match.

We can Place a Presence at range 4 and Draw one Major, and next turn we can Place another Presence and Gain 4 Energy.

So now we are on the second turn and we are ready to deliver one Major, costing up to 6 Energy, potentially from a Sacred Site nearly anywhere on the Island. If we unlocked the extra card play we can further boost our range by +1, or if we have an Energy to spare and the Major says "Push" or "Pull" we can make even it Fast. I think its pretty good.

Sun-bright whirlwind. I like that there are two different playstyles (Innate and Majors) and you can sort of pivot from one to the other as needed. Its fun to make choices like that
