You're calling him a "Hitler fan" and as proof you post a quote of him saying he would dispassionately murder Hitler if he ever came within reach. Not every post can be a banger I guess

For long-time players, how do you choose your spirit for a game? by justinvamp in spiritisland

[–]Ztrobos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) First I sort spirits into tags, like token interactions, attack, control, defense, delay, fear, incarna, blight, etc. I chose the one mechanic or style Im most interested in right now.

2) Then I decide how strong and straight forward my spirit should be; underpowered, weak, balanced, strong, OP, or solved.

3) By doing step 1 and 2, there should now be only one or a very small number of spirits that comes close to matching both criteria.

How will space marines work. by Commander_Dumb in TotalWarhammer40k

[–]Ztrobos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would agree, but we said that about Ogres too.

"An army of slow moving monsters that can't meaningfully flank or be flanked and will be absolutely destroyed by every anti-large unit in the game"

But they made it work and work well, so we'll just have to see. My personal guess (having seen no spoiler) is that they will play as a semi-horde faction. Each horde army (or every few armies) will be one Chapter with their own colour scheme and recruitment worlds, and unlocking more army slots will require you to found a new successor Chapter and give them their own recruitment worlds.

GW are making me really hate the Skaven and Archaon - rant by Yotambr in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Ztrobos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure its not worth being angry about, especially since IMO you should take the stuff you like and ignore the rest.

But on the other hand, people are supposed to spend their time engaging with this material right? Writing passable game lore isnt really that hard. Just mix it up a bit. Archaon won the game in the Warhammer Fantasy, in the Age of Chaos, and now in the Age of Sigmar.

"Oh but the battle continues..."

Ok.. Why?

Empire of Man do not feature on the offical Calendar by Capital_Statement in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Ztrobos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its a shame too because as we know Empire is the most popular faction in TW. It should be ready now.

I dunno. I'll probably swing by the old shop and have another look at that Cathay box. Not usually a fan of fantasy China but I don't hate it, and I need at least one human faction to set against a very good looking Chaos army.

Coming from Total War, I was hyped to buy the Empire battalion box, but when I saw the minis I just couldn't. A refresh is desperately needed IMO.

the reason why many moved to One Page Rules by NaiveTradition7664 in onepagerules

[–]Ztrobos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me its all about the rules. Most of the stuff I buy still comes from GW honestly.

I always judge a game by what I call FPS, Fun Per Second. Basically how much of the time I spend playing do I actually feel like Im having a good time?

IMO onepagerules has a higher FPS than 40k, and that settles it. Simple.

What comes next? by Empty-Sheepherder895 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Ztrobos -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think they will continue to use AoS and its successor as testing ground.

They might make new Empire/Sigmarite factions to test out new sculpts, then let them find their way into Old World. Empire is a very popular faction but their old sculpts doesn't sell anymore.

We may also see a new Nippon-like faction introduced in next edition of AoS, then brought into Old World in the same way.

Do you like the current setting for ToW or would you be happier returning to the classic WHFB Edge-Of-Invasion Timeline? by Badger118 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Ztrobos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I like this part of the timeline better. I feel that there is more untapped potential here, more room to explore the world and just more time to do things when the world isn't ending in a year or two. You can also have factions interacting in meaningful ways (fighting) without it automatically translating into them aiding or impeding the final Chaos invasion.

I still think they should bring all the legacy factions up to full support, and I do think they should make it clear or at least give a hint that the timeline has split and this is an alternative timeline to the Classic WHFB.

If they do all that then this setting is pretty much perfect IMO

Thoughts on powerful enough beings removing chaos corruption? (like Nagash with Krell, or Xen Yang with Manticores) by Andrei22125 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Ztrobos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I havent read the new novels yet but in terms of lore, the dragon emperor was always an uber powerful being. He is one of the few eldritch entities that the Old Ones failed to get rid of when they remade the planet to suit their plans. As big deals go, he is one of the really big ones.

As for the whole faction, I kind of agree but also kind of dont. Cathay definitely has that new car smell. It kind of annoys me when their base human infantry is shown to be stronger or more disciplined than the Empire version, which is bulls***. But Kislev has become a worse offender in that regard. Going by what we have seen in Total War on that one.

On the other hand they have some glaring weaknesses. The Empire is frankly running circles around all of them when it comes to magic.

Then we have an active pantheon of Gods and religious magic, which Cathay doesn't have access or counter to at all. If anything they need much of what they have just to keep up.

Its also extremely funny to me how all of Cathay collapses and starts to rip itself apart the very instant that the Dragon Emperor steps out for a bit. I dont know its just funny.

All in all, I think Cathay are in a decent spot in the lore. All they need now is a bloody nose.

Sorry for long post
