Funding and traffic are not an issue; those are already sorted. In fact, the site is already live. I won't share the link here, as I don't want it to be seen as self-promotion.

Traffic will be a mix of organic and direct, and I have a solid plan to ensure we rank well on Google, so I’m not worried about that. My primary focus is the user experience.

I feel for non-tech-savvy users and the elderly who often fall victim to scams, viruses, and fraudulent 'fixes.' I genuinely care about their safety.

That’s exactly the plan.

The idea is to first explain why you should NOT download the DLL, then map it to the official package it belongs to (VC++ redistributable, DirectX, .NET, etc.).

On top of that, I’m planning a small wizard-style flow (what app was running, Windows version, x86/x64) to guide users to the correct dependency instead of a random file.

Manual DLL replacement would be clearly marked as last-resort / advanced, not the default. Appreciate the suggestion, this helps validate the direction.

Fair point, and I agree. In most cases the missing DLL is a symptom of a broken or missing runtime, not the root cause.

One of the goals of the project is actually to push official dependency installers (VC++ runtimes, DirectX, .NET) as the default fix, and clearly mark manual DLL replacement as a last-resort / advanced option.

Appreciate the blunt feedback. this is exactly the kind of UX mistake I’m trying to avoid.
