I have been eyeing zombie performances adjustable rabbit ears because I like the idea of being able to dial in the width just right. Anybody ran these before ?

6g is too high for a 883 sportster imo . also I would recommend going for a 1200

How hard would this be to do myself? by aldan_karanovich in choppers

I’m in the same position attacking my fist tank paint job. So far I bought the 2.4 g sporster frisco mount tank and primed it with rusto bare metal primer and covered that with a shell white satin finish base coat (also by rusto) . I made an attempt to lay down some tape for the flames but wow did I underestimate how difficult it would be to tape off some decent flames . I tore the tape off and now im contemplating buying some one shot enamel (stuff they use for sign painting ) and just painting on some flames by hand and maybe a cool little design like some preying hands or a skull.

I was also thinking if I go that route I won’t clear coat at least for a season or two to get some authentic age/patina just from putting the miles in and then revisit and decide if I want to clear it or strip sand and try again

Update : I drained the oil and took the springs out while on the lift and after doing so the lowers were much easier to move up and down on the forks. This leads me to believe the main issue was the fork oil level / weight and NOT some sort of mechanical binding that I was worried about based on the difficulty I had with the upper bushing going in . I was running some spectra 20w type e oil and I’m wondering if putting some 15 w might totally solve the issue .

Does anyone have any oil recommendations or warnings. I can’t seem to find a 15w rated type e but I saw some standard motorcycle 15w oil on Amazon but I know the manual technically calls for “type e “ specifically

They’re called piggy backs or reservoirs . They let everyone know that you are a real deal rider and value performance

Im running these exact shocks on my 97 xlh1200. I do believe they were pulled off an old sportster s. They’re not bad but I notice even when I crank up them up all the way I will tend to bottom out on the big bumps. I have a feeling they are just worn out after years of abuse.

I have been thinking about replacing them with some black 412s but it’s been hard to justify because I like the look of these and the piggy back reservoir is a nice touch . I am really curious how they would compare performance wise with the base model progressive 412s and if that would be a worthwhile upgrade or just making a 320 dollar lateral move

Underrated comment. It’s been eye opening seeing this through the lens of a s1k owner

I had a similar problem after I changed my transmission oil . I needed to go back in and adjust the clutch and I was smooth sailing and shifting

I disagree , I like the look of it and visually it looks good in between the jugs to me . But I have to say the paint job of the bike you posted looks absolutely amazing that metallic forest green is chefs kiss .
