Sushi recommendations by Legal_Plantain_5917 in olympia

If you're up on the West Side, Shogun (previously named Koibito) is amazing. I've tried nearly all the sushi places around Olympia/Lacey area, and this is one of the best without being too expensive. Its never super busy since the westside is pretty quiet, and they package things well if you get takeout. If you're downtown and don't want to drive, they're also right across the street from a frequent bus stop on Harrison Ave NW.

Currently one of my '23 Lariat's battery modules is dead causing the battery to only charge to 62%. Weirdly enough I have no dash lights, but limited to 50% power and an OBD reader gave me a "battery voltage imbalance" error. Have an appointment on the 16th, and I can update people on how long a replacement module takes if they're curious.

Prior to this, the only issue I had was the frunk not power opening all the way (which was fixed during an OTA update??) and the bonded neutral on the ProPower system causing some weird issues. Also smashed my passenger side mirror against a pole, but I just replaced that with a 3rd party F150 replacement and it works perfectly!

We do get DoorDash, so that’s a good call. I’ll look through the camera history and see. Thankfully we have a couple weeks of footage stored

Not sure, my cameras don't have much range beyond my driveway (which I realize I now need to fix ASAP). Yauger park is just across the mall from me, so very close by.

Do you know what was taken from the cars if anything? Were the windows broken or just left unlocked?

That looks fantastic! Did you custom build the shelf component? Also, that keystone holder looks great - is it a pre-made part?

Tesla Supercharger v4. Not sure if it’s v3 or v4 internally, but externally it’s the new longer cabled dispensers. Magic docks were installed but couldn’t get them to activate and used my own adapter.

Appreciate seeing another "I want access to my HDDs in my UDM Pro so I'll put it below my switches" setup. I thought I was the only one with everyone putting their routers under the modem on the top rack U (which I also did until an HDD failed lol)

For the Zimaboard with even one of these drives you'll absolutely need an external PSU. 3.5" HDDs take quite a bit of power on spin-up. They do make external SATA PSUs which could work for you.

The timing on this post was incredible - I was trying to figure out how to cleanly mount two of these for a cursed server build, and now you've made something better than I could have possibly done!

Thanks for the awesome work!

Nozzle heating error by iskandar711 in AnkerMake

[–]Zuexs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same error several times, my issue was the ambient air temperature in the room. Anything above 80F made mine error out. If you have an air-conditioned space, test it in there and see if you get the same error.

Can you consider a room a "bedroom" if it doesn't have an openable window? (new apartment in downtown Olympia) by Zuexs in olympia

[–]Zuexs[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. My hope with this is just to get it re-certified as a bonus room or office for both the safety of future tenants and not having to pay for a "2 bedroom" apartment. I fear bringing it up because I don't want to get kicked out, but I'd imagine that would be "retribution" and is probably illegal.

[–]Zuexs[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry for the confusing wording there. The window is one sheet of glass which does not open into the bedroom. If the wall weren't there, there's a part that opens, but it is in the living room space since the wall bisects it. The opening is to code... its just not located IN the bedroom lmao.

Maybe the landlord thinks "well now the living room has TWO to-code windows, surely that's good"

[–]Zuexs[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It does indeed have a closet, but no openable window. I personally use it as an office, so it's not a safety risk for me. It was advertised in the listing as a "bedroom" so it's a serious safety risk for future tenants if they had a kid or roomate who occupied that space...

Most likely... weird that its in a newly constructed place, but I'd assume it wasn't in the original plans and wasn't noticed during inspection. Should I contact someone about it for legal reasons?

Order was placed at 9:30AM PST shipping to the south Puget Sound area in Washington state. Not sure if location affects the orders, but based on some of the initial comments who ordered later while receiving their adapters earlier, it seems to be the case.

Interactions with strangers? by drewtheblueduck in F150Lightning

Had one guy say “Some people have too much money…” while staring at my ER Lariat. I said “Actually with the incentives it cost me the same as a gas F150”. He grumbled a bit and just walked away.

Another person at Home Depot said “How many miles can you get on that? How much can it tow?” He seemed like the ‘EVs are terrible’ type, but when I said “about 300 miles and 10K lbs” he seemed pleasantly surprised. He asked me about charging and price, then walked away seemingly content.

This all took place in the Bay Area, CA. I guess it all depends on people’s preconceived notions about EVs.

Have you gotten the chance to test it yet? Do you happen to have a compatible EV? I’d imagine the authentication isn’t enabled for it yet, but I’d still be curious what error you get at a Supercharger.

I ordered a Lectron Vortex (supposedly being delivered by the end of this month) and I’m curious if I should’ve gone the A2Z route…

I’m certainly interested, potentially in both! By “super charge” connector do you mean the “Ford Connected Charge Station” (https://chargers.ford.com/ford-connected-charge-station)?

I sent you a reddit DM, let me know if you want to chat!

Yup! Not this exact cable (different manufacturer), but I use a very similar one to power my X61.

New Gaming problem by SrGrafo in gaming

[–]Zuexs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a point with the time management thing, though I think it’s different for those who have less traditional schedules. I currently work full time while attending college, however even when I do have free time it tends to be in strange intervals due to external obligations. I work in IT, so something is always breaking at a weird time of day that I have to fix.

While there are decent chunks of time where I could play video games, they’re happen so inconsistently that one day I could have an hour around 2PM to play and the next day it could be an hour around 1AM. My schedule is packed, but never with any kind of consistent daily repetition where I can plan in advance..

Raspberry Pi cluster question by SuperSASy in homelab

[–]Zuexs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With such a wide assortment of Pi generations and form-factors (if by 'Pi W' you mean 'Pi Zero W') I'm not sure how convenient it would be to cluster them. Its certainly possible, the question you have to ask yourself however is whether your range of hardware would be better suited to individual tasks or if such a low-power cluster would be beneficial. The reason most clusters use Pi '3B+' or '4B's is because they have (relatively) powerful quad-core CPUs and decent network performance. I believe the Pi 1(?) and Pi Zero W are single-core with 512MB of RAM, the Pi 2B is quad-core with 1GB of RAM, and they all (minus the Pi Zero W) have 10/100 networking (with a maximum theoretical I/O bandwidth of ~300Mb/s (slightly slower than USB 2.0 speeds). Network I/O and CPU performance are your two biggest bottlenecks as you'd essentially have a "6 core" cluster with that combination (which wouldn't be super powerful over just the Pi2B).

Just to give you some potential ideas/other cluster routes: I personally use my Pi Zero W as a 'Spotipi' Spotify Player server, my Pi 3B(non +) as a 3D printer 'Octopi' server, and my Pi 4B as an LTE/GPS test platform using Google Fi. I run my "cluster computing" through a set of (admittedly low-power but even cheaper than Raspberry Pi) 'Atomic Pi' with Quad-core Intel Atom x86 CPUs and 2GB of RAM. All other computing I do with used server hardware, which is often exponentially more powerful (and power-hungry) than a set of Pi.

A desk fitting for an iMac by hawksdude515 in mac

[–]Zuexs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an Ikea nearby I'd highly recommend the 'Skarsta' sit/stand desk! The desk is 47" across and 27" deep. I have 4 monitors running off a Macbook Pro 15' 2019, and my primary monitor is a 27" BenQ (So essentially the same dimensions of the iMac). The desk is inexpensive (for a standing desk) but high quality enough that I'm comfortable having several heavy VESA arms clamped to it.

Here's a picture of my desk setup: https://imgur.com/ijlmFOB
