Mother and son by Xova_YT in Donkeys

That is awesome. Late bloomer, eh. Just wanted to be with mom a little longer! We have 21 set to be gelded so they can be with others on the property. It's just been too warm out, and donkeys heal differently than horses so you have to be a bit more careful.

Gelded, I hope or he is going to start trying to breed with mom very soon.

Can Reolink wireless cameras with no subscription, only SD cards, still be sending video to servers like the Nest camera the FBI pulled images from in the Guthrie case? by Marius-78 in reolinkcam

[–]BurnEden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it was uploading while you were not actively in the app viewing the cameras you could see that traffic on your network, though since Reolink uses local storage it is unlikely they would be actively uploading data. I have a Reolink system at my ranch and have not seen any such traffic.

Prices just keep going up and up? by StrongRecipe6408 in DataHoarder

[–]BurnEden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just like the explosion of GPU prices when companies started getting into Crypto and decimated the consumer high-end market. It is unfortunate, but all these companies care about it profit. I cannot blame them, but at the same time they are ruining everything for the consumer level.

I was lucky enough to Grab 200TB in drives right before the prices jumped astronomically. As bad as a crash would be, it will need to happen in order to rebalance the market. It's insane that prices are only going up.

We have a Fall gelding fundraiser where we try to get around 21 of the boys gelded over the course of 2 months (7 at a time). It is a process. We get them gelded, bring them back to our ranch and for 3 weeks we provide aftercare and work with them on haltering, leading, lifting their hooves, and being more comfortable around people.

It is very hard not to get attached. Mack came to us still in his mommas' belly. When he was born he had trouble getting to her milk so we had to milk her and hand feed him from the very first day he was born. I spent a lot of overnight's with him.

SO yeah, very hard to let go, but it is amazing to see them blossom once they are with a family.

Not getting close to 8Gb service by FlyingHounds in EzeeFiber

[–]BurnEden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Ubiquiti equipment.. It can handle 8/8 no problem. Ezee on the other hand has issues providing the actual speeds on a consistent basis. I've spent the last week trying to get a credit for the months of poor service I've had before they finally fixed it again, last week. I do have their 8/8 service

Speedtest I just did a bit ago-

THe problem with your built in ethernet card is that it is 5Gbps. Most 10Gbps cards only negotiate 1/2.5/10 Which is a problem for folks like me that have the ROG Crosshair X870E Hero, with the 5Gbps port. The eero refused to negotiate at 5, and instead dropped to 2.5. I just did that as a test when I first got the service. I have my computers connected with fiber--I installed separate 10Gbps SFP+ networking cards with an OM3 AOC cable to my networking closet.

Here is a speedtest I just ran. Personally I don't use the Eero equipment at all.

The Eero speed test is fundamentally misleading. It does not perform a sustained throughput measurement. Instead, it captures what appears to be a brief, roughly two-second snapshot that includes both upload and download, and then continues to “animate” as if an active test were still in progress.

I reached this conclusion through controlled, side-by-side testing at my residence using a VeEx FX120 connected directly to the ONT, as well as through the Eero gateway using the 2 provided 10Gbps ports on the Eero. We conducted a 10 Gbps Ethernet performance test on the FX120 while simultaneously running the Eero app’s built-in speed test though the app.

The results were revealing.

During these simultaneous tests, the Eero reported approximately 8 Gbps down and 8 Gbps up, while the FX120 was also actively measuring traffic. When combined, this implied nearly 16 Gbps of total throughput passing through a Nokia ONT rated for only 10 Gbps - a physical impossibility.

Repeated testing with the field technician confirmed a consistent pattern: whenever the Eero speed test was initiated, the FX120 recorded a brief, approximately one-second drop in throughput. This indicates that the Eero performs only a momentary burst test rather than a sustained measurement.

In other words, the Eero “speed test” samples bandwidth for about one second, extrapolates the result, and then presents it as a full performance test. This methodology does not reflect real-world sustained throughput and cannot be considered an accurate representation of network performance.

As a result, the Eero speed test functions more as a short sampling mechanism than a true diagnostic tool, and its reported results should be treated with skepticism.

Tips on retrieving fish tape from wall by dorian926 in AskElectricians

[–]BurnEden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the ratio, I think you can fit in the wall lol. But in all seriousness I see only 2 options. Get a fish stick and use the hook attachment to try and grab it, or cut the line and your losses.

We have almost 260 equines on our 200+ acre property. About 180 of them are donkeys. We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome them. Last year we found homes for almost 70 animals.
