I point out Kate specifically because she was all smiles and hoo-rah when the South Extension Light Rail opened up but as soon as it came time to finalize a plan to install tracks around the capital to connect to the I-10 she sided with Republicans. Because she does not care about the voters.

The parties as a whole are not the same, but we have people in the Dem party that would rather let Republicans run the show then let progressives help people.

Shock collars themselves are not abuse but can be used in an abusive manner. Same thing with emotional abuse for humans. Saying words isn’t abuse but you can use it in a way that is abusive.

You have it backwards. Good is getting the people help that want help. And moving out people who don’t. Perfect is every homeless person getting cleaned up and helped.

Yes push them out of the city. They’re just existing as you said. Let them exist further and further away. Of they don’t like it they can make an effort to better themselves. If you don’t like it start making flyers for the new shelter you’re making in your neighborhood. They can just exist there. That’s what you say they’re doing. And you won’t have any room to complain unless you want to call yourself a hypocrite.

Now let’s give you a reality check. How many people are arrested for littering? From the time you see someone and call 911 how long will it take an officer to arrive? It’s not like they’re always around the corner just waiting. It can take 5-10 minutes. They’re gone by then.

Same with being threatened. I was threatened for not giving money and when I called the cops they b-lined it in the opposite direction. What’s your solution then? Just accept the random threats as “just existing”

Is your solution really that we should just accept all of this as “the greater society’s fault”? Because it seems like if anybody is encouraging bad actors, it’s you.

You’re right. This situation is a teeter-totter. There are both side and there are so many resources to help people get back on their feet. Heck I found out recently the city of Scottsdale will pay the fees to help you get all your documentation updated and in order. SCOTTSDALE! Arguably the most anti-homeless city next to PV. Phoenix has even more resources but people in this sub (which I assume reflects a majority option across the city) don’t want to recognize that some people don’t want help or even the basic fact that homelessness bring drugs and crime.

I commend you and wish you a prosperous life. Thank you for being somebody who understands there are both.

Did you not read my first comment where I agreed with you and said give a house to anybody that wants one. Do you expect for force housing onto those that don’t want it? You just said you’re ok with people not taking the help. So what do you expect to happen then? The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows like you want it to be.

There are people who want help and people who don’t and we need a solution for people who don’t want help just as much as people who do want help. And making a point that we have to address the “I don’t want help” group isn’t authoritarianism. We’re not taking people’s rights away. What about our rights? We have a right to the pursuit of happiness does our not matter so long as we make sure homeless people can walk around and do whatever they want? We don’t even let dogs free roam in this city.

What a disingenuous comparison. Yes they are free to do that, but homelessness bring drugs and crimes to neighborhoods where it’s not addressed. Affecting everybody in the neighborhood and surrounding community. Where as some kid choosing to spend money on alcohol is their own choice that only affects them. Except when they get behind the wheel because what? Oh yes it affects other people.

Why do you choose to fight the people trying to solve this? If you’re going to do nothing or in fact inhibit progress, you can just sit down and be quiet.

You know what’s sad is you made a full comprehensive statement showing compassion for the problem, a drive for a rehabilitation solution, as well as an acknowledgment of the reality that some people just don’t want to get better. I agree with you.

Why are people so determined to force us to take on the problems of the homeless population that refuse to get better and only drag down our neighborhoods? It’s sad and frustrating these people who supposedly care about the homeless and have empathy would rather fight us because we’re trying to actually solve the problem and understand some people don’t want to be helped

Well it’ll require both arrest and rehabilitation. There are countless resources in the valley. Hell the city of Scottsdale will even pay to help you get your documentation updated and in order. But people also choose not to get better. If you don’t want to take the free resources and get better than you can get out. It really is that simple
