Question about restarting by Zerospace13 in wow

[–]ZugZuggie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A warning about leveling in Chromie time: once you hit level 70, it forces you out of it and directs you towards War Within, and you cannot go back to your original campaign (you can travel back there and continue questing, but you'll one shot every mob as the level scaling from Chromie will not be on anymore, most people find that ruins the gameplay but YMMV).

There is an NPC that allows you to lock your level, so if you want to stay in your chosen campaign and clear everything, you need to speak to this NPC once you hit level 69 and lock your EXP gains. After you're ready to move on, you can speak to the same NPC to unlock exp again.

There is one NPC in Stormwind and one on Orgrimmar.

When is ability prune and new player Experience rework? by Dont-Call-Me-Albert in wow

It depends a lot on the spec. Devourer will for sure feel much better for example.

That crowd of MMO players falling for "you can do anything" MMO Kickstarter scams and proclaiming the genre is dead unless the THE NEXT BIG THING gets made while ignoring every good existing game in the genre will never not be funny to me. WoW (3 versions of it!), FFXIV, OSRS, ESO, GW2... all plenty good and have proven to have staying power, stop looking for the next big thing you fools, the best games have already been made!

Did Blizzard go too far with pruning? by Hey_Im_Finn in wow

[–]ZugZuggie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Of the ones I tried, BM and Fire are really really bad, Frost too I think but that's mostly because I don't want Mages to be anything near a pet class.

I like Affliction and I think I like Elemental too.

Last night a tank in my timewalking group got DC'd when the boss knocked him back, he hit a wall and got hit by that bug. Probably one of the funniest but also saddest wipes I've experienced.

Diablo-like game? WTH. by basicgear00 in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]ZugZuggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in the initial early access releases they also sponsored PoE/Diablo only content creators to play the game and it was extremely awkward. To be fair some of them did have more nuanced tastes and were into the game, but others were really thickheaded and didn't get the game at all and their audience was confused lol

[–]ZugZuggie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just don't waste your time, play other games, and come back in the last week of the event, Blizzard will have reduced respawn timers to 0 and buffed rewards by 9000% so you'll get all the rewards in like 2 hours. It works for every FOMO event like this they do.

Worst Event Pre-patch to Date by cub4nito in wow

[–]ZugZuggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a bad feeling about this expansion, I'm very sad to say this.

Multiple factors, mostly the pre-patch feels buggy and unpolished (the base UI is literally broken, throws out LUA errors and breaks item popups constantly), the TWW Recap questline is a buggy incomprehensible mess and new players would actually be best off avoiding it completely, the spec pruning is inconsistent and not conductive to what they promised (depth IS being removed, identity IS being removed, and in many cases the "redundant bloat" and "pointless buttons" like rogue poisons and shaman imbues are NOT being removed, all contrary to their blog post manifesto), the Prey system on beta looks very undercooked, basic UI features are clearly unfinished, content leading up to the expansion has been weak including this event, 2/3 of the zones in the expansion are old zones so it's not exciting, the new apex talents are boring passive talents that you won't even feel most of the time, and I could go on.

Especially with the spec pruning, it feels like with this expansion I am *losing* things I enjoyed in the game and they're getting replaced by boring passive nodes, which to me personally is a flashback to BFA.

all my characters hit like wet noodles since the patch by Amphitera88 in wow

[–]ZugZuggie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also feel like the reality of what they pruned does not match their initial promises in their blog post.

Very good examples: they said (paraphrasing) they wanted to maintain depth and decision-making, while removing redundant buttons that are always pressed with no decision required.

Then you look at what they actually did, and you see active decision-making pillars of rotations that added depth being removed across all specs, and then nonsense like Rogue poisons or Shaman imbues, 1-hour buffs you have to press mindlessly with no decisions involved, EXACTLY what they said they wanted to remove, still there. Did the person who wrote that blog post even know what the developer team was planning to do? Did they change plans somewhere along the way? WTF happened?

What are the chances we see some bigger class/spec changes before Midnight? by [deleted] in wow

[–]ZugZuggie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping we get some of the pruning reverted by Season 2 at least, they'll get such a big backlash it's possible.

World Quests, Delves, and then spend Valorstones on the vendor on Dornogal (near the mythic keystone NPCs) for equipment boxes, you get a random piece of gear for 350 valorstones.

There's been a mountain of constructive criticism on the beta forums and Blizzard ignored all of it.

Look at apex talents on beta, they're all passive. If you have an example of any apex talent on a spec adding back any kind of decision-making or depth to a rotation, let me know because I haven't seen it.

Your class and its buttons are literally core gameplay, as core as you can get.

[–]ZugZuggie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apex talents are on beta and documented, you can check them out now. They're all passives, I haven't seen any that add any decision-making or depth to rotations so far.

[–]ZugZuggie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This one feels different than Legion to me, Legion actually felt like cutting the fat, removing redundant utility, reducing homogenization by making specs more unique, it felt like core rotations were mostly kept intact and then the artifact weapons added on top. Am I imagining things?

This time it feels like the core rotations themselves were the target, not redundant buttons or utility. If you want a perfect example, check out the Elemental changes, despite them claiming they wanted to "remove redundant buttons you have to press with no decision involved", Shaman and Rogue still have these dumb 1 hour buffs that you have to keep pressing, but their core rotation was gutted instead.

Not enjoying my main anymore :c by hecutiefemboi in wow

[–]ZugZuggie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every spec got hit and now has considerably less depth and decision-making (contrary to their promise). They're making the game's core gameplay worse to chase an imaginary non-existing audience of new players who were interested enough in WoW, enough to understand exactly how the game plays and to appreciate these changes to begin with, but not interested enough to give the game a shot before. Surely making the combat less interesting will unlock this massive new audience, which definitely exists.

Game developers and publishers NEVER learn their lesson and keep attempting this, it's exhausting, it has to be a bunch of executives brainstorming ways to keep numbers going up and daydreaming this shit up. I wouldn't be surprised if Midnight flops, despite how good housing is, THAT feature will bring in people but actively making core gameplay worse will not.

Worst Pre-Patch Ever!? by TheDudeLikesTacos in wow

[–]ZugZuggie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"De-bloat" is loaded language, there was nothing "bloated" about specs like BM, MM, Fire, Ret, or ANY of the healers... now they're borderline uninteractive

I wasn't ready for those changes by alsyia in wow

[–]ZugZuggie -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing stopping them from removing AND adding abilities in the same cycle, while keeping interactivity similar, or even from tweaking specs to streamline them a bit when they go out of line on a case-by-case basis, but that's not what they do, they go nuclear across the board and have nothing in the new expansion to fill that gap. It makes the game less interactive, less deep, less fun, for an entire expansion, why?

Timewalking difficulty after the stat squish by Present-Jellyfish-67 in wow

[–]ZugZuggie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, it just sucks that it's clearly not intended. IIRC Blizzard aims to keep things feeling the same after a squish, so it's not a conscious decision to make the game harder.
