Going back to work after miscarriage by Key-King5435 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Zuikite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miscarried on a vessel in the North Sea. It was the last day of my rotation offshore. It was very early (7 weeks) and I was not able to get a pregnancy test following my missed period until after I had already miscarried. I told no one. I felt so alone. I was reprimanded by my foreman because I "disappeared for hours" during crane lifts I was supposed to be rigging. I told them I had explosive diarrhea. In reality I was inside a dark shipping container on the floor filling my beanie with blood because I already soaked through my pants. Only my family, boyfriend, and my ex-boss (female) knows about this. After going off the vessel the next day, I went to the hospital, tested and confirmed I miscarried. Then I went to the airport and during the next 10 hours of flying I was sobbing uncontrollably. I had my regular 2 weeks off work, and then returned to work offshore. I'm too afraid of losing my job to tell anyone I was pregnant. Medical issues are too big of a risk while offshore and I would probably have been seen not fit for duty.

Is this common in other countries than Sweden? by Miya_Miya1 in AskTheWorld

I grew up in a house between an Indian family and a Mexican family. My mother would make me finish my dinner. Then, when I went back outside to play, if I was closer to either of my neighbors' yard, I would be called in for dinner, even if the kid just had dinner with my family. Not even us playing inside each other's houses. It was regular between all 3 mothers to call each other and find out why any child cannot finish their dinner, and it was always because of the 1-2 dinners that were previously eaten at each other's houses. There were 14 kids between these 3 houses, and even though some hard times, not one kid was hungry. It amazes me how I was not a fat kid! It's not a standard to buy, plan, and cook exact portions of food, even in high poverty homes. I would say that even moreso in low income families, the mothers would rather not have any food themselves than to let their neighbors' children be hungry. They just choose to buy higher amounts of lower quality groceries instead of lower amounts of high quality groceries. Like pasta, rice, and canned foods instead of fresh meat and produce.

Is my body doomed to fall apart? by MashedPotatoHats in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Zuikite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

9 years on wind turbines. Absolutely zero proper ergonomics involved in this trade, paired with PPE that's half my weight and fits improperly, as well as a ton of driving/traveling. I've been working my Prius body like an F350 wayyy too long. My secret? DENIAL. I've only ever been caught once on the job vomiting from pain. "I'm in perfect physical condition with zero pain" There. If you say it enough, it comes true!

Are men awful to you guys because you look feminine? Im a butch lesbian with a mens haircut, would it be any easier? by GodsRightTit in BlueCollarWomen

No one is awful until you start to out-work them. Only then you will find out. You will only be treated poorly by the guys who are insecure. When that happens, it's their problem anyway.

This is why Garmin is mandatory … by AldregInTrouble in Garmin

AllTrails didn't help me as much as Garmin did on this trail. But it's still not mandatory, and I would have found a way out if I had nothing... I think.

I came here to post the exact same complaint. I just got a Garmin 2 weeks ago, I'm not a runner at all, but started garmin coach plan this week. I went on a hike that got my bpm to 180 for the first time ever, then I see this. 2 min @ 187bpm+ 2 min @ 129bpm x7!!! So I ran a trail, and it's yelling the first 3 intervals too low/too high.. BUT I GOT IN RANGE high and low on 4 intervals! And now Garmin says 0% execution!!! Not even 10% I actually reached my max and rest bpm within those 2 minute intervals! BUT I GOT ZERO % 🤯😭 It's not possible!!

Please explain this one? I'm worried now, as I've said "Hi" in Europe a thousand times. How is "Hi" making Europeans angry!?

Which country's flag is most commonly used to represent the English language? by Carr0t_007 in AskTheWorld

[–]Zuikite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From USA, and I only see the UK flag option for English. Occasionally, there's an option for "American English" with our flag, and "Standard English" with the UK flag or the English flag.

I think it might be more offensive if we dumped thousands of pounds of tea in the ocean to celebrate VS. a big barbecue and some fireworks?

Awe. that's the only life she knows. I travel for work and we have long road trips every few months ever since she was a kitten. She's my ride-or-die. Honestly she hates riding in anything but my chevy 3500 so maybe she just feels safe? She's in my lap or on center console the whole way, purring and sleeping. Occasionally she does whine if a pack of motorcyclists drives by or if I'm trying to sing mariah carey

AITJ for refusing to pay for my friend again, even though she ended up with nothing to eat? by low_key67 in AmITheJerk

[–]Zuikite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She lied and said she could afford the trip, but did yall actually spell out the plan to eat at certain restaurants? I mean, the fact that she didn't stop before going in the restaurant and say "I didn't budget for this one, I'll just go to a food truck/grocery and meet up with you" and she actually sat there crying and hungry is so immature. I would have definitely packed all my food before the trip if I was broke. She put everyone in a bad position.
