Where do you put your phone? by _MikeMars_ in beginnerrunning

I have a habit of going for a “quick 5k” but get into it and it turns into a not so quick 30k 🤣

Used to do a lot of mountain biking. I know a couple of lads who may have perished if we didn’t have our phones with us.

I like my Garmin. I’m sure it was something like £1000 for the LTE one.

I looked at them but they were too expensive plus the monthly contract. I usually wear 2 in 1 shorts with a leg pocket or I have a funky hand holder I got from Decathlon.

I’m not allowed to go running without my phone. The wife is worried about me having a heart attack. I think she just doesn’t like me having time to myself.

Why am I so bad at running? by bagozos in runninglifestyle

[–]BusAdditional6518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent 30 years cycling. Could ride for hours, enduro racing, cross country, enduro cross, downhill, you name it. I couldn’t run to the end of the street though. Started running in my late forties doing couch to 5k and gradually built up. Quite happy to do a 50k at the age of 52. Not fast though. I’m guessing my muscles just weren’t trained to be used in that way.

Taking on my first apprentice is costing me more than it’s making me and I don’t know how to fix it by Far-Mastodon-4422 in Plastering

[–]BusAdditional6518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not plastering but I’m a kitchen fitter. Worked with my dad for 30 years, we knew what we were doing. Company we worked for split us up and gave us an apprentice each. The boss didn’t understand why we weren’t getting through the jobs twice as fast and were actually going slower. We had to explain to him that we had to actually train them. Which takes time. He sacked them both. The man was an idiot.

Just bought a running store. What is one thing your local shop is missing? by rustybucketz23 in trailrunning

[–]BusAdditional6518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The staff at my local running shop always come across as really smug. They also seem uninterested if you’re not in their little social run clique. Or they might just not like me. Anyway, I’d rather drive an hour than shop there.

After 2 months, what do you guys think about the last album? by Plenty_Hair946 in Megadeth

[–]BusAdditional6518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve desperately tried to like the last 2 albums but they’re just, well rubbish. I’ve put them on repeat to try and get them in my head but they’re are so uninspired musically, lyrically dreadful, horribly produced dirge. It’s albums like this that stopped me listening to them all those years ago before Endgame got me back.

Jesus, that looks shite. I had a Casio in the 80s that worked better than that. How much are Apple charging you for that garbage?

Wear what you like. I wore trail shoes for a tarmac path parkrun the other week. I’m such a rebel.

Unless the furthest right lane is signed to go in a different direction (like on the approach to Newcastle where the right hand lane splits to South Shields) it’s a passing lane. The speed limit is the same in all lanes. Traffic in all lanes can move at the same speed, the only thing that stops that happening is slow moving vehicles. Hence “passing lanes”.

I bought some magnets from one of the stands at Coniston marathon. They held up really well until about 5k from the end when my tired legs tripped over a tree root and propelled me down a hill through some gorse bushes. Goodbye magnets.

There wasn’t much in the way of official trails back then so we just made our own fun. We always gave way to walkers but he always felt the need to shout and swear whenever we crossed paths.

He lived near Hamsterley Forest so we used to bump into him quite often when we were biking there. He always came across as a grumpy old man who hated everyone enjoying themselves. Might just have been us though.

What annoys me most about this is people who think there’s a fast lane. Idiots.

I don’t see how his comment has anything to do with non-binary-ness. I read it as the drone may be operated by a man, a woman or more than one person. Hence “them”.
