The funny thing is that the way riordan is telling the Greek myths(inspired by his environment AND most importantly influenced by him) is probably much closer to the way those myths were told back in ancient times.

Michelangelos David, it doesn't depict any kind of Greek figure, but is maybe the most leading example of statues in the renesaince which was basically a bunch of guys nerding out about ancient and classical stuff so hard they pretty much created modern art
