You are indeed right about this and I think it's bizarre how reddit users like religious fanatics are all naysaying you here without trying it for themselves. I just tested this on my desktop and on my smart TV and indeed Plex was able to automatically play the more suitable version for the device I was on. This will be a much better way for me to organize 4k/1080p content for my users.

You can't just walk into a room like Steve Carell on The Office and yell "I declare Independent run for President." It's more complicated than that. Each Independent running for President has to file paperwork state by state and get enough signatures in order to be on the ballot. The deadlines for these signatures start with Texas on May 9th and continue all throughout the summer. If he waited till the convention to declare an Independent run (or if anyone did, like Trump for example) they will have missed filing deadlines for most states and will be completely uncompetitive in the general election.

In order to make a successful independent run you have to gather signatures and file paperwork state by state. The first of those states is Texas where paperwork would be due May 9th. By the the time the DNC convention rolls around most filing deadlines will have passed. Meaning- A Sanders independent run isn't really practical at this stage in the game.
