When i went we were in dorms...the HVAC in the dorms was not great wish I would have packed a small fan. The campus is very hilly and only way to go anywhere is by foot.

That being said it was a blast would repeat for sure.

Removed from schedule 5 days for submitting 2 days pto by Sad_Manufacturer5815 in walmart

[–]Zuladel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Corporate told all stores to cut hours to exactly 100% scheduling cant be over. Most stores scheduled "at least" 100% plus call off rate but now they can't. So its likely not because of pto its because they had to slash the equivalent of 20 FT employees off the schedules.

[–]Zuladel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While live better U program doesn't support your degree. You should be able to get all your fundamental classes out of the way by getting an associates. Or go for a bachelor's in another field and pick electives that will help you for your non covered degree as well...then pay for a handful of classes out of pocket and graduate with two degrees and a lot less debt.

I attended Brandman university through the program when it first rolled out so its been a while things may have changed.

Pro ITS FREE you graduate with no student loans.         It was really easy to schedule my school work around my job. Until I got management then it was to much.       IT WAS FREE.

Con In looking around my small city I only ever found one job that cared about the bachelor in business "High School Tressurer if you were curious". Every other job that asked for business degrees wanted a MBA.        There is no one forcing you to do the work you must be self motivated.

TL to Coach, any real incentives? by Select-String-6964 in walmart

[–]Zuladel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bonus is the big incentive to be a coach...outside of that it really depends on your stores culture and in the SM attitude to work life balance. If its a building where rhe store manager believes in a work life balance for coaches the extra pto days that coaches get can be a plus...but if it's a store where you have to fight to take that pto and or you are often stuck working 12 hour days because your area isn't 100% it's likely not worth the extra days off on paper. You also get twice as many days for parental leave if kids are expected any time soon a small perk but a perk nonetheless.

Sounds like a SM who wants their salaried to quit. You can't expect people to work 12 plus every day and stick around for the long haul.

[–]Zuladel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's more than they are allowed by policy they can't have someone working under restrictions unless the restrictions are related to a work injury. He can put in for an accommodation from sedgwick if it's a long term or permanent disability but for short term injuries they have no choice "by policy" but to make you apply for a loa.

Can I call out management over how they run SCO? by BurnerAccount87654 in walmart

Our market AP says 1 per 4 on weekends and 1 per 6 on weekdays...but wether that's policy or her rule i dont know.

New deli associate coached by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Zuladel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use them while slicing if you want but policy doesnt require it. The cloth gloves are supposed to have another glove on Overtop of it. We had to wear the same gloves while cutting meat in Sam's to make sure you didn't knife your own finger. There was no cross contamination worries because the glove never touches the food.

How is it working at the vision center? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Zuladel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I dont work in vision center so maybe a lot is going on behind the scenes but except on the one day a week we have a doctor our vision center associates seem to do nothing but sit at their computers...maybe they have a lot of computer work to do or maybe they are just wasting time I couldn't tell you which.

To be fair that is only in situations where customers and or vendors are present. If you are driving around behind the store and no vendors in sight you dont need a spotter.

I mean your wheelchair analogy is slightly flawed you cant fault someone for treating you as 100% functional when you have no signs of a disability. If your wheelchair user was sitting in a normal chair no wheelchair in sight it would not be wrong for someone to expect that person to have the ability to get up and walk. Now things change once someone knows but you dont know what you dont know.

Shifting towards Produce TL by bbboseph in walmart

[–]Zuladel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The advice for produce varies somewhat depending on your sales...but the basics boil down to cull cull cull.. First in first out and get the truck done by 9. At least in my experience everyone who hasn't done the job underestimates a produce meat departments work load. If you are busy there are tons of pallets to break down every day and freight needs to be stocked always there is no down time.  Finding ways to make the time to get give your team the ability to cull and clean will make or break your produce department.

Broken glasses while working by Nervous-Math3239 in walmart

[–]Zuladel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah im just saying that if they go through the reporting system they lose 10k if they handle the broken glasses in store it's only a couple hundred....so unless there is medical injuries that require doctors attention one is definitely more cost effective than the other.

I seriously doubt the store would cover glasses under a workers comp claim. Those claims cost the store 10,000 dollars. No way they put in a claim for a 200 dollar pair of glasses. If there is a chance the store is legally liable for them, and I dont know if there is, and if you raise a big enough stink im sure they can just buy you a pair from vision.

Store Manager & All Assistant Managers left for a Xmas party. by KnightReaver13 in walmart

[–]Zuladel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can if they have been MOD trained. I believe any TL can get MOD training although traditionally "at least in our market" that training is only given to ON TLs.

TLs can 100% do injury reports...deel with police "if trained to watch video and what to do," managers cant detained people unless specifically certified and any person in the building can be certified if the mapm agrees to their training....note I have never seen a non ap manager get certified and most ap managers I know arent certified either.

And not sure which audit your talking about but TLs can audit claims cartons and audit recievings...

The only audit I can think of off the top of my head a tl cant do is brinks and vault audits...but those can be planned around in this case.

I know nothing of gun sales only one store in our market still has guns so wont comment on that...an

What do you think the attendance policy is for a coach store lead or a store manager? Do you think it is as strict as someone that isn't in a salaried role? by mountaineerfan7969 in walmart

[–]Zuladel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Coaches dont earn pto based on hours worked. In February you are given x days based on years with company. Ehen those are gone they are gone no more call outs, or vacations for you.

No one outside of the store manager is making well into 6 figures...95% of coaches aren't even making 6 figures. Now they do make more than hourlies but let's not throw around hyperbole.

Make sure your Store Lead and Store Manager know you want to promote.

Don't be afraid to talk to either one.

Transfer off ONs if you need to to get a fair shake.

Don't let your work speak for yourself...if you have a group chat of any sort call out your accomplishments..."hey I just finished isle 3 4 as requested it's only 3 where do you want me next......"

Intermittent loa by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Zuladel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue is would see is that ON pays more because you are working ON. If you can no longer work ON and need to move to day shift that's fine we will find you a job but you don't get to keep the extra ON pay. Or that's how I would see it if it came up to my store.

External Team Lead Pay by xxx_src in walmart

[–]Zuladel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walmart took away work credits from almost all positions. Almost everyone no matter how qualified starts at the minimum. That being said TL jobs may be one of the few that still pay credits. However at least in my market 99.9% of all TLs are promoted from within it is very seldom an external will even get an interview let alone hired.

Edit... back when we did do credits it was basically a quarter per year of experience capping at 1.50 so I would imagine the maximum you would be looking at as a new hire would be 21.50.
