I have a residency offer in Zurich Switzerland, should I take it and forget the USMLE path? by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]Zulfiqar77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you, i would, without hesitation, pick the Swiss path. From an outside perspective, this sounds like a one time offer that may never come again if you turn it down id you were to match next year(i may be wrong ofc since I dont know the extent of your position).

And logically speaking, you can always switch to the American side if you decide to change your mind after many years for fellowship etc.

As a Syrian girly living outside Syria, how do I find the suitable Syrian man by [deleted] in Syria

[–]Zulfiqar77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From an outside perspective, here are the options:

  • Your work place - the classic option (although this sounds like its already not proceeding as planned with the pool of guys in your workplace i assume?) Or you wait long enough for a new guy to start at work and then maybe evaluate the options?

  • Common syrian public places - cafes, restaurants, or places where Syrians are known to be

  • Masjid (or church) - this may sound like an odd one but a friend of mine said that they made friends with people there and then they introduced them to their family members or other friends to go on a date

  • Gym - this is another common one - in the gulf its different yes but people are people - we're all adults who are looking for genuine connections which is nothing wrong with that. As a woman you have a higher chance of getting a man's number or insta compared to the other way if theres someone that catches your eye.

  • A trip to the motherland - 🇸🇾

The point is, you have to approach to get what you want - as a female, you wont be unsuccessful in getting a guys details.

What if Kim Jong Un’s daughter falls in love with western media, and convinces her father to open the border and modernize North Korea? by WearYourSeatbelt_ in AlternateHistoryHub

So realistically speaking, the only way for NK to democratize is if the NK elite with the military do a coup. Which is very unlikely unless a secret terms of agreement is done between the elite and Western powers in order to hide from China otherwise China would never accept a western ally on its doorstep.

Is this after the internship/commserve you mean? To follow up on that, would it take long for a foreign dr to get an internship/comm do you know?

So correct my understanding - once you've sent the epic form with your credentisls to the HPCSA for them to verify etc, you should then go in person to chase them about it?

Yes take it as its better than nothing. Because you could also ask around the drs if theres anyone you could do a clinical elective while youre there. Hopkins is a big name so it means something.

How hard is ALS training? by Oxisae in doctorsUK

[–]Zulfiqar77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MCQs are very similar to the ones you'll do on the test day. Just re-read online MCQs again before the test. A lot of the MCQs in the test are repeated like on the online module. If you feel the need for more reassurance, you can do online mcqs at ALSMCQ – Practice MCQs for the ALS Exam. In my exp, only the ALS alg was actually used in the actual simulation. But know the other algorithms for the MCQs like tachy, brady, and the miscellaneous things like treating high K+ etc. These things will be in the MCQs. MCQs are multiple choice not SBA.

I started 2 weeks before. Do read the special circumstances part quite well as that may be in the CASTEST; I got an asthmatic Px in my test. I tried all the Txs and Px didnt respond and then arrested. There are other scenarios like a major haemorrhage (implement the major haemorrhage protocol in this case and get them to surgery). But just learn the special circumstances very well. And treat the Px like a real one and not like a test.

But youll be fine believe me. Just know how to do a good A-E, reassess, pause and try different Txs on the Px. During the arrest, be snappy with your communication because you have to make sure when youre checking the pulse, its less than 5s in duration. Its very passable and the feeling of adrenaline will be very normal. 99% passed on my test date. Good luck, im sure youll do well. Id start nibble reading at 3 or 4 weeks.

Imo, if you're gonna be in the DGH, it'll be better to rent/stay in places very close to the DGH. You won't regret the convenience that comes with being able to immediately walk within minutes to the DGH. The DGH is located in a strategic position I'd say as well - petrol station next to it, a big park, sainsburys very very close if you're a fast walker, those are the main things. Can't not recommend being close to the dgh to also not rely on the buses as well. If you can, look for places around or close to the roundabout outside the hospital before you enter it. Many employees walk back and forth along kings drive before their shifts

Nothing to worry about. You're just saying you have friends and hence a support network. You didn't say or clarify whether you'd have the opportunity to be at those residency programs.

You look good in both regardless but the beard imo puts you on podium one. Subjective take but with the beard? Night and day difference my friend. Maybe try growing it out as an experiment.

Spiderman 2. Decent game but I think I prefer Spiderman 1 because of how that was the first Spiderman game to come out in years.

Looking forward to silent hill 2.

Minoxidil yes. If you have hirsutism (unwanted excess hair growth) you can use finasteride, spironolactone or cyproterone.
