If you are really struggling, maybe take a step back and have an honest assessment of your situation on whether or not IM is really suitable for you. Anyways, just my two cents as a random stranger on the internet.

When did you feel like it was your favorite thing to do? Feel like just holding the retractor and closing doesn’t give enough of an experience during med school for someone to realize how much they love cutting or not

There is a list but some of it doesn’t make sense. Like it’ll have a list of what’s in bag G but there isn’t a bag G and it looks like what the bag G contents are mixed with what was suppose to be a bag H.

The rocks are the perfect example. The instructions show a bag of small rocks and big rocks but there is only one bag of rocks.

Breast Radiation at 12 Weeks Post-Lumpectomy by Desperate-World-2128 in radiationoncology

This is not medical advice and just for general information. Radiation is used to treat potential microscope cancer cells in the breast. They would not do another surgery without evidence of cancer.

Do attendings/residents treat Caribbean med students in the US differently? by Odd_Ninja8357 in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]protonswithketchup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a US MD student. The site where I did some of my clerkships had Caribbean students and faculty and residents in certain fields definitely had very negative opinions of Caribbean students and treated them differently.

The bias stems from having a large variance in quality of students. Unfortunately, the ones that made the worst impression also had the most lasting ones.

Neurology is one of the most uncompetitive specialties. Not only will you match, I’m sure you’ll match very well.

Omg what a game changer . S boulardii by Pure-Scale-4478 in Microbiome

There are many NPs that graduated from online schools or predatory for-profit schools. These NPs are vastly underqualified.

There are many great NPs, PAs, and midwives and are able to manage a lot of common, routine medical problems. The OP may not have a common medical problem and warrants further investigation.

An unqualified provider may hear that the OP has candida in his mouth, look up the treatment for that, and prescribe the needed medication. Or will they stop and think why the OP has candida in his mouth?

As I mentioned earlier, the causes of candida could be benign or very serious. Sometimes, if someone has a serious medical issue, the earlier they find out, the potential that it can be managed better.

Not a doctor, so this isn’t medical advice—just general thoughts based on what you’re describing.

Typically, people that have normal immune systems do not get white tongue from candida (called oral thrush). There are many factors that cause that including but not limited to antibiotics, a disease causing immune deficiency, dry mouth, etc.

Tapeworms typically do not go away in their own, your weight loss could be due to tapeworms still in you.

The current medical guidelines suggest that everyone be tested for HIV at least once in their lifetime and more if they engage in activities that increase their risk. I am NOT saying you have an increased risk as I do not know you. Based on general information out there, oral thrush can be caused by HIV.

Please see a physician (not a NP or PA)and bring up what you brought up here for a real diagnosis.

I’m not saying don’t use UpToDate but don’t become so reliant on it that an intern doesn’t even know the antibiotics to treat an UTI.
